Wheel Unit: |
Steering shaft is 3/8" (10mm) Silver Steel and is mounted through 1" long bronze bushes which in turn are pressed into nylon support blocks. The potimeter is fitted directly into the back of the steering shaft. Lock to lock steering rotation is approx 300 degrees. The stick shifter is a self contained item which simply bolts onto the base plate as a single unit. A sprung loaded chromed steel ball locates into a tapered ring which offers a very positive return to centre for the shifter. Two shifter buttons are also mounted on the upper wheel spokes. The wheel itself is a polished aluminium 3 spoke type with a rubber grip covered with apolstry vinyl. The cover is molded fibreglass construction based around a Nascar dash. Each cover is spray painted in high gloss enamel. Black is the standard colour but other colours are available within reason. |

Pedal Unit: |
The pedals unit is constructed from polished 1/4" plate aluminium and utilises full analog control. All three pedals are mounted onto silver steel shafting through bronze bushes.
The brake pedal has a two stage progressive operation. After the first initial pedal travel pedal becomes much harder to press. At this point an actuator applies the braking effect at a much quicker and higher degree. This system simulates a hard pedal as the brakes shoes/pads make heavy contact with the brake drum/discs. Though it is not strictly "pressure sensitive" braking it is a far cry form the standard type offer on most other units.
The Clutch pedal offers the realism of driving a manual trasmission car. It allows the driver to have the car in gear on the grid and hold the engine to a high RPM for max tourque of the line. The clutch is at it's best under a spin out condition as it allow the drive-line/rear wheels to roll free in reverse when spinning out. This helps greatly in spin recovery. NOTE: The clutch can be used but is not required for shifting during normal race conditions. |

General Operation |
The unit can be switched as either a single axis or dual axis type for the brake and gas pedals. A simple slide switch is provided on the under side of the wheel unit to change from single/dual axis. NOTE: If the unit is switched to single axis, the clutch is disabled.
Special Note: Due to the top hinged orientation of the pedals unit, it is very susceptible to sliding away from the drivers feet. It is therefore important that they are set against a wall or braced in some manner in order for them to stay put.
All the best Nigel Nichols
