FRANCY - A low Cost SV572 DHT Amplifier

SRPP Driver

I've found this schema in an italian rewiew and I republish here only for comparison purpouses. I've build a similar circuit. The main differences where:

The SRPP is without the inductance. I placed a 390ohm /3w resistor instead. I used the same value for the cathode resistor in the low-section triode of the SRPP.
I didn't use a PP OPT, but the output stage was almost identichal to th one used in "Francy". So I save a 807 and several other components.

the results were pretty good but not so different from any other tube amplifier of "normal" class. The sound was powerful but with a "look-at-me" taste. Besides very low volume passages were "confused". .
I've also experimentd a 6CG7 SRPP but the power wasn't enough to drive in A2 the SV572.

I've found this circuit with impact but not "detailed", beside with certain programs it was easy to reach listening fatigue/distortion.In the review the circuit was rated 15w in A1 and 18 in A2!!.
Anyway I got also the impression that someting was wrong with the driver . Because at low level the sound was
very clear. Leaving apart the fact that I dont'like SRPPs, the impression was that all the circuit was too stressed. So why don't you use a more powerful, clear triode to drive the grid... so I choose the 2A3, a champion for clearness, and that's why my next experiment will be with a 45, i'm going to sacrify power for maximum details!
