In an obscure area of Mars called Cydonia is a mysterious formation that appears to be a human face. It is nearly a mile long from crown to chin, and retains its appearance as a face despite the angle it is viewed from and different lighting conditions.
Nearby are other unnatural-looking formations: The Hollow Triangle (b), and The City (c) which appears to be replete with pyramid and pentagon structures.

The obvious question is: If it is a face, why is it such a Human face? It is symmetrical and detailed even down to the individual teeth which other enhanced photographs show. Is it possible that Human Beings (Homo Sapiens Sapiens) built it during a time so long ago that it has been forgotten? Our anthropological data indicates that Modern Man (Cro Magnon) appeared as a species distinct from Homo Erectus and Neanderthal about 50,000 years ago. However, our archaeological data of early civilizations starts only 9000 years ago (around 7000 B.C.) starting with either the very primitive settlement of Jericho in the Middle East or more mysterious beginnings in the Northern Indus Valley (India). Evidence of earlier civilizations than these is scant. However, the fact remains that Modern Man (Cro Magnon) first appeared on the scene about 50,000 years ago, according to organic material dating techniques. What was he doing for the 41,000 years between then and 7000 B.C., after having wiped out the Neanderthals and becoming the dominant sentient species on the planet?
