The Age of Pisces is waning, and we are within 1 degree of arc until the Age of Aquarius officially begins between the years 2060-2100 A.D.
What is an "Age"? An "Age" is one of the 12 segments of the Great Year. A Great Year is 25,900 years long. Therefore, each Age is about 2,160 years long. The Great Year was invented by the Greeks to take into account the phenomenon of precession, which is what makes the spin axis of the Earth trace out a circle in the Northen Sky. One period of the circle takes 25,900 years, and is the phenomenon which makes the Pole Star change from Polaris to Draconis, to Thuban etc. over long periods of time. Precession occurs because the Earth's spin axis slowly "wobbles" around a line intersecting the middle of the Earth's slightly tilted axis (tilted at 23 1/2 degrees to the plane of the Sun).
What does the age of Aquarius herald? Legends say it is the dawn of a new age of peace and harmony for mankind. The symbol for this age is two wavy lines, on top of each other, with the crests in synch with one another (Water). Also predicted is the decline in power of world religions, which has already happened when the church was separated from the state. Care for the planet and man's realization that he is a part of the ecosystem that he lives in will be the major theme of this Age, as well as brotherly love and cooperation.
