Bollywood On Tap (BOT) is a Raleigh, NC based non-profit music group with two primary objectives: To entertain music lovers and help non profit organizations promote their causes. BOT was formed in 1996 by a small group of music enthusiasts led by Mr. Raj Kumar Vedam. Raj is a ardent music lover and his dedication and efforts culminated in a successful take off of BOT in the September 1996 musical show at Stewart theater, N.C. State University, Raleigh, North Carolina. The show was a fund raiser for ASHA, a non-profit organization which promotes developmental efforts related to under-previleged children in India. Thanks to the overwhelming response from the triangle audience, a second musical hit was staged by BOT in August 1997. All proceeds from the show were donated to the Hindu Society of North Carolina, Raleigh. A third fundraiser was staged by BOT, this time for the Association for India's Development (AID) on August 29, 1998. AID is a non-profit, charitable, volunteer organization that supports a wide variety of social service and development projects addressing such problems as literacy, health care, rural credit, vocational training, women's empowerment and children's welfare. This show was organized by AID's North Carolina State University student chapter. BOT members perform regularly in several other community events including festivals and fund raisers.
