Jan Gerrit Kootstra's Homepage
A computer and Mathematics freak Homepage.
Long live the Monarchies of Europe.
Long live the young Princess of Belgium, Elisabeth:
Long live the young Countess of Oranje-Nassau, Eloise:
Information and photo's of the young Princesses of Oranje-Nassau, can be found on the home page of the Royal Family of the Netherlands.
The biggest kick in live is to take a skewdriver and repair a HP3000 machine or a HP9000 machine.
A smaller kick is to take a PC apart and rebuild it or build one yourselves.
I would like to build a HP3000 from scratch and make it run with MPE/iX 7.5 as a webserver like
the Jazz server of Hewlett Packard.
Result: We had a HPe3000 running MPE 6.0 and an Apache 1.3.4 webserver.
Another path I was following is to build small Apache WebServer with a test security certificate, a commercial certificate is much to expensive for testing. The test was running on RedHat Linux 7.1. It was running at my home PC.
A Dual 1GHz Pentium III Machine, 1 GB memory, 60 GB diskspace.
The OS was updated to RH 7.3.
Changed to Microsoft Windows XP to serve my wife's needs.
Replaced by a HP Pavlion 734.nl, single AMD, 80GB discspace
The machine is has a sister by now. This is a dual 2.8 GHz Pentium Xeon 4 EMT64, 2 GB memory, 750 GB diskspace.
The above projects have stopped.
My personal websites have moved to this bigger dual 2.8GHz Pentium Xeon 4 EMT64 Machine. The website is www.kootstra.org.uk, this website is for the general public to watch. (password protection has been deleted).
I studied fluid dynamics, and graduated in hemodynamics (blood flow).
The model I used was the based on the following equation:
I applied for a PhD studies in fluid dynamics in October 1999, and started in January 2000.
A summary of the PhD studies will be published on www.kootstra.co.uk
The PhD studies ended in july 2003, due to lack of time and lack of progress.
