    Fruitarian
    - Eats only fruits, seeds, and nuts

    Raw Foodist (Whole Foodist, Living Foodist) -
           Eats only an UNCOOKED, UNHEATED, UNPROCESSED
           and ORGANIC plant based diet. Also referred to as a Whole Foodist.

    Vegan (old term: Strict Vegetarian)
           Eats no meat or animal products, also does not wear animal products.
           (Honey may or may not be allowed be some)

    Vegetarian - Eats no meat (no cow, fish, chicken, etc.)
          Lacto Vegetarian ..........Eats dairy products
          Ova Vegetarian .............Eats eggs
          Ova-lacto Vegetarian ..Eats eggs and dairy products

    Yogic Diet - Practitioners of Yoga, eat only sattvic (pure) fruits and vegetables.

    Vegetarian terms

    Animal - Any organism possessing a central nervous system,
                    giving it the ability to move and feel pain.
                    (fish and chicken are indeed animals)

    Fasting - Practice of not eating for a day to over a week for cleansing purposes
                     juices may/or may not be consumed.

    Juicing - Making juice out of fruits and vegetables

    Protein Combining - Practice of combining different vegetable protein sources
                                         in one meal, for a complete set of amino acids. It was originally
                                         thought that vegetarians needed to consume a complete set of
                                         amino acids in each meal. This was later found to be unnecessary
                                         since the body stores amino acids.

    Pseudo-Vegetarian - One who claims to be a vegetarian but isn't.

    Veggie - Affectionate nickname for vegetarians

    Food terms

    Agar - Plant based gelatin alternative.

    Gelatin/Gelatine - made from animal bones

    Miso (fermented soybeans) - used for flavor or as a soup stock.

    Seitan (Wheat Gluten) - Made from whole wheat flour

    Tempeh - A traditional Indonesian food that is made from whole soybeans
                      and is sometimes mixed with a grain such as rice. Its fermented
                      and pressed into flat cakes.

    Tofu (soybean Curd) - A traditional Asian soyfood. It's white, nearly oderless,
                                             and bland. It absorbs the flavor of the
                                             items cooking around it.

    TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) - Made from soy flour, looks like ground beef.

    Vegeburger - A flat patty usually made from beans, grains, or other vegetable matter.

    Animal Rights Terms

    Animal Testing - The practice of using animals to test the toxicity, carcinogenic,
                                  and irritancy properties of products.
          Draize Eye Test ...A test substance is dripped into the eyes of the test animal
          Draize Skin Test ..A test substance is applied to the skin of the test animal
          LD50 test ..............A test to find the Lethal Dose that kills 50% of the test animals

    Buncher - Slang for someone buy/takes animals from animal shelters/pet sellers
                      to sell to labs

    Canned Hunting - Shooting Tame animals in fenced in enclosures. These are often
                                    exotic animals. A kill is guaranteed, no skill required.

    Cruelty Free - A product is produced without slaughter or inhumane animal testing
                             or preferably no animal testing.

    Debeaking - The process of snipping the end off the beaks of chickens to prevent them from pecking each other

    Downer - Slang for an animal that is too weak/sick/injured to get to the slaughter
                     house by itself.

    Factory Farming - A method of keeping animals in animals in tight pens, to reduce
                                    the space needed per the animal.

    Fair Chase - Phrase referring to a hunt where the animal has the possibility
                           of running away in its natural environment (not true of canned hunts)

    Force Feeding - Forcing food into an animal to fatten it.

    Specieism - The philosophy that humans are superior to other species

    Trophy Animal - Animal hunted for bragging rights

    Veal - Usually from calves. The calf is restrained in a box and force fed.
