Observation of exploding electron bubbles in liquid helium

Abstract:
Electrons in liquid helium become trapped in bubbles from which the liquid is excluded. By applying a negative pressure to the helium, we are able to make these bubbles explode. The pressure at which this occurs is in reasonable agreement with theoretical expectations.
