Uneeda Dollikin dolls

This photo shows a mint Dollikin doll with her original booklet. This doll is in the original bun hair style wearing the Japanese pantset. This outfit also comes with a long sleeveless vest with a Japanese fan print. She has a beautiful "high color" face, with red lips and peach blush on her cheeks and blue eyes. This particular doll was called "Lotus Blossom" in catalog ads in 1958. She retailed for $11.95

Dollikin dolls were made by Uneeda in 1958. They are 20 inches tall and jointed in 16 places - wrist, elbow, upper arm, arms, neck, waist, legs, knees, and ankles. The bodies are hard plastic and the heads are a vinyl with rooted hair. Fingernails and toenails are painted red. The dolls come in a variety of hair colors and styles. Some have a short "bobbed" style, some have a severe bun, with and without a widows peak. Some have a youthful ponytail with bangs. Hair colors range from light blonde, to reddish blonde, to brunette and jet black. Eye colors vary from blue to grey, green and an unusual reddish brown. Sometimes the eyes are painted with heavy black "Cleopatra" type eye liner on the edges. All have sleep eyes with hair lashes. Some dolls have peach lips, some have deep red.

Clik here to see pictures of Dollikins Catalog Ads from the 1960 Montgomery Ward Christmas catalogDollikin was offered in 3 styles in 1960 by Wards, as a ballerina for $9.78, in the plaid slacks set for $4.99 and as Mommy Dollikin with a baby for $7.99.

Clik here to see pictures of Dollikins Catalog Ads from the 1961 Montgomery Ward Christmas catalogIn 1961 she was offered again as a ballerina in a slightly different outfit and in the plaid slacks with flat shoes instead of heels. I find these old ads a wonderful source of Dollikin history for original outfits and hair styles.

My newest Dollikin, a gorgeous sexy lady wearing all blue from stockings to shoes. This is not an original Uneeda outfit, but it is all vintage 1950's!

Here are two new ladies for my collection. They are wearing both versions of the original Uneeda cordoroy slacks that are shown in the Wards catalog. I have added the white blouses. This outfit should come with a fur collared sweater. The slacks have the trademark Uneeda slit at the ankles and have great detailed brik-brak up the side. They snap in the back with a large donut snap.

Here is another new addition to my collection, a mint in box, all original Dollikin. This doll is in "new" condition in every way. Quite a find - she still has the cello strip covering her face and hair. The doll is in the newer version of the Uneeda Dollikin box. This box has a see-thru cover with cellophene so you can see the doll in the box. The box is smaller than the older box with the gold lid. The doll came with her original information card and she is in absolutely perfect condition. This is a wonderful addition to my collection.

A fabulous addition to my collection, a very mint blonde Dollikin wearing an original black velvet pants set with ruffled blouse. She has the longest, thickest hair of all my Dollikins and was purchased new in her box, after 40 years, in perfect condition.

Here is the above doll as she was purchased mint in her original box. This is the older version of the original Uneeda box. It is large, has a fold out graphic portion with pictures of Dollikin and a gold lid.

Here is an unusual version of the Mama Dollikin jumpsuit. This version is done in red, rather than the blue print. I love finding these variations of Dollikin original outfits. The doll on the left is another Uneeda 20" doll, but she is not jointed like Dollikin. Uneeda made other vinyl dolls the same size as Dollikin in the late 1950's. They had the Dollikin face mold, but their bodies were lightweight vinyl and only jointed at the hips, shoulders and neck.

Another new beauty joins the group. This mint Dollikin has the short brunette bob style hair in the original set, with a fabulous high color face. She is wearing a home-made outfit with replacement shoes and stockings.

This picture shows two variations of the original plaid pants/vest set. Both outfits come with the same cream colored blouse, and both vests have the solid red felt back, but the fabric is a green plaid on one and a vivid red plaid on the other.

Here are two original Dollikin Ballerinas, both with jet black hair and heavy eye make up. Both wearing original Dollikin tutus and slippers.

Here are two girls just lounging around in their undies. Both dolls are wearing vintage 50's undergarments, though not original Dollikin fashions.

Another beautiful Dollikin joins my collection! Here is a fabulous brunette Dollikin in mint condition. She has a thick long ponytail and bangs and a fabulous face. She is not wearing an original outfit, however, but a very well made satin teddy. She does have the original white Dollikin hi-heels and earrings. She looks so sexy in that teddy, I've decided to leave her in it for a while.

A lovely blonde Dollikin wearing an unusual original outfit. Shoes and dress are original. I think she may be a circus star.

Here is a close up of some Dollikin faces to show the differences in eye and lip color. There were quite a few variations in Dollikins. On the right, my ballerina with the slight widows peak has jet black hair and very unusual amber eyes with a peach lip color. The Dollikin in the center has green eyes and very red lips and the smooth ponytail and bangs. Some ponytails were very fluffy and curly as the Dollikin to the rear shows. Others were more sporty and straight. Most of the Dollikins I have found had blue eyes, but these two are the exception. The Dollikin on the left has short jet black hair and the heavy eye make up, as the ballerina has. I think this short haired doll was a Miss Twist Dollikin and should be wearing the original fringed dress that this doll came in. Some Dollikins have ear holes for earrings and some do not.

This is a lovely example of a brunette Dollikin Ballerina in the original outfit, with the hair in the original ponytail. This doll has the darker heavy black eye makeup.

Another lovely original Dollikin Ballerina wearing the original tutu and ballet shoes. She has the jet black hair pulled back into a severe ponytail with the widows peak and heavier eye make up.

A blonde Dollikin with the bun hair style with the spit curl. She wears vintage undergarments from 1958, not original to Dollikin but old store stock.

The Dollikin on the left is not in an original outfit, but a custom made suit. Her hair was combed down, so it is not in the original set. The doll on the right is in the original plaid pants set and her hair is in the original ponytail with bangs.

These are two Dollikins in original outfits, the Japanese pantset, which seems to be the most common outfit to find the dolls in, and the green plaid pants set. Dollikin dolls were made by Uneeda in 1958. The large doll gave way in the late 60's to a 12 inch "Barbie-sized" Dollikin, again fully jointed, and a tiny 7 inch model called "Little Miss Dollikin" in the early 80's.

This photo shows a group of Dollikins all in original outfits, except the one in the teddy. The brunettes are getting together for a little girl talk.

This picture shows all three sizes of Dollikin dolls made by Uneeda from 1958 thru the early 70's. The 12 inch Dollikin is riding the bicycle, with the 6 inch Little Miss Dollikin behind her. The large 19 inch Dollikin is seated in the chair. All the dolls are in original outfits.

Here are two 12 inch Dollikins, the one in the black hair is from 1972 and the blonde is from 1969. The 1/6 scale die cast motor scooter is from Coca Cola Collectibles and is perfect for Dollikin to ride.

Here is a photo of two 12 inch Dollikins with their original boxes. Notice the difference in the boxes. The blonde doll in pink comes in a box dated 1969 and is called "Fashion Dollikin". The Dollikin with the jet black hair, in white comes in a box dated 1972 with "Action Dollikin" on the box. Also, the plastic boots on the doll in white were rivited to her ankles, obviously not meant to be removed. The doll seemed to be sold to be posed, but not redressed.

Another beautiful example of a 12 inch Action Dollikin from 1972, new in the box. She is a stunning platinum blonde in a solid black original jumpsuit.

I am always looking for 19 inch large Dollikin dolls to add to my collection so if you have one for sale, please e-mail me.
