This is Raven!

br
Introduction

Raven is my sponsored wolf and part of the relocation effort of the Wolf Education and Research Center. She was a gift from a friend for my birthday. Thank you Chris for such a thoughtful present. The area of Idaho where she was released is on the Nez Perce Reservation and the Nez Perce tribal biologists are monitoring progress. My intent here is to keep you posted as to where and what she is up to. I hope you will enjoy her story.

Raven is an adult black female relocated from British Columbia to Bear Valley, Idaho off the middle fork of the Salmon River on January 22, 1996. Raven was the alpha female of the Prophet Pack in Canada. She was named by the capture team and was released with members of her pack. Raven is 90 pounds and was transported twenty one miles by snowmobile into the remote wilderness release site. Raven is one of 20 wolves that were reintroduced to Idaho in 1996. Since her release, she has been monitored near her pack members and biologists hope they will produce pups.

December 13, 1997 - UPDATE

Raven (B25)first explored the River of No Return after her release. She was often accompanied by members of her pack. Raven traveled as lone wolf for months until she paired up with B32, a black male wolf. If these two stay together and survive, they may mate and produce pups in the spring.
