These are the Biblical lands, also known as Mesopotamia, "the land between two rivers," the Tigris and Euphrates. This region was home to some of the oldest cultures. Religions have born and died in and around this area.
Being a desert area, the temperature can fall (and often does) more than 35 Fahrenheit, or 20 Centigrade after sun down. Dawn and dusk bring additional strength to the ever-present breezes. Breezes help make the hot, dry air a little more tolerable, during the long summers.

Desert storms are incredible. Mountainous deserts are the best. You can sit on a mountain, and watch Mother Nature wreak havok a few miles away. Of course, mountains are few and very far between in this region. | |||||
On night of a full moon, the only differences between night and day are the heat, and the colors. If you are color-blind, only the coolness gives the night away. | |||||
