BARBIE GETS A MAKEOVER!!!! The news is out. There will be several 98 dolls with a new Barbie. Mattel is opting for a more "realisic" looking doll. Barbie will have a smaller bustline, wider waist, and slimmer hips. She will also receive a new face. She will have a closed mouth, softer, straighter hair and a finer nose. At this point, Mattel will still continue to use the current Barbie for some of the Collector's editions.

*** MCA Records slaps Mattel with Barbie counterclaim MCA Records has responded to an earlier lawsuit filed by Mattel by naming the toy manufacturer in a counterclaim that asserts Mattel made false and defamatory statements about the music label. In its lawsuit filed Monday, MCA Records alleged Mattel "accused MCA of crimes and subjected MCA to hatred, contempt, ridicule ... or had a tendency to injure MCA in its reputation and business." Mattel's lawsuit, filed on Sept. 11, asked for the immediate recall of "Aquarium," the debut album by Aqua, which includes the hit single "Barbie Girl." How far will Mattel go? First Miller's, then the VW commercial, and now this (probably my web page next after these comments!) I have heard this song and think it is pretty funny.

Hi! I talked to an employee of Gap today and she said the Barbie and Kelly Gap Gift Set is due to hit Gap Kids stores next week and should sell for around $38.00.
