My 1999 European Vacation - Page 3

After a few days of visiting with family and friends, we celebrated the wedding of my cousin who married an English gentleman on Thursday, 9/9/99 using a medieval theme. It was quite unusual and special, having all the local papers show up to take pictures that appeared in the newspapers the next day.

The reception was held in a genuine old castle that was just newly renovated inside. Two fellows dressed up quite properly in their medieval costumes greeted us when we arrived at the castle, serenaded us with medieval music on their medieval instruments and had the guests participating in medieval games during the afternoon. The meal, which consisted of 6 courses, lasted from 8PM until 2:30AM, when dessert was finally being served.

Quite a unique and pleasurable experience, to say the least. Lots of guests came in English costume. Christl and I opted for our Bavarian style dresses.

That Saturday we went to Nürnberg for the biggest Flea Market in Germany. Little did I know, that you actually needed the 3 days the Flea Market is held in order to see everything there, that’s how big it is. I did find a Little bad wolf n/f, which I didn’t have yet, a Mowglie with thin-footed stem and some 3.9 various dispensers, which I haven’t yet thoroughly checked out to see, if there may be some unusual ones in the bunch.

The next few days we were visiting with family and friends and took a day trip to Czechoslovakia (I was quite disappointed to find no PEZ there).
