My 1999 European Vacation - Page 4
The following Tuesday we drove to Vienna to visit with my girlfriend and her family. A 24-count box of Smily’s was waiting there for me. Now I could relax, knowing I had enough of them to fulfill all the requests I had from my PEZ friends for that Smily.I called Johann, as I had promised I would and we decided to get together that Thursday. I won’t soon forget the wonderful day I’ve spent with him. I was in complete awe at his collection. I didn’t know what to look at first, obviously I didn’t see half of it and simply must go back there and spend a few days and make sure, I’ll write down all the questions I have beforehand and take lots of pictures, which I didn’t do this time. I was just so taken by everything he has, PEZ memorabilia I’ve never seen or heard of. My mind obviously wasn’t functioning properly and I wasn’t thinking clearly ;-) . This was truly a collector’s dream come true experience for me. Do you know how the original PEZ dispenser came to be? If you are interested to find out just click on the Original Dispenser link and read the article as translated from the first issue of the PEZ Post.
Later in the afternoon we took the streetcar through Vienna to go the Prater, the famous Vienna amusement park, where we met up with his brother Fritz.

At the train station, I spotted a new PEZ Vending machine that displays Peter PEZ. It's nice, as vending machines go, but no comparison to the old ones, at least in my opinion.

My girlfriend’s daughter and son joined us for dinner at the Prater and we went on some rides, had a few laughs in the fun house and were sorry when the evening had to come to an end.

Of course the younger crowd like Christl and Desire went on some real wild rides.
Way too much for me ;-).

On Friday we showed Christl the sights of Vienna, including the famous Stephan’s Dom, since this was her first trip to that great city.
