Alyson at the operaDer Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss

One of my favorite operas: The part of Octavian, a young boy, is sung by a woman (supposedly his voice hasn't changed yet). Anyway, Octavian is having an affair with an older woman. In order to avoid discovery in her bedroom he disguises himself as a young chambermaid. So you've got a woman pretending to be a boy pretending to be a girl. Octavian (as a girl) attracts the attention of a lecherous old baron who is hoping to be married to the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant. To get rid of the baron (and get the girl for himself) Octavian agrees to a private, late-night tryst. It's kind of like a soap opera -

but the music is wonderful.

Alyson still at the opera

By the way, the dress I'm wearing in these pictures, is actually GREEN.
