It is my desire to create a real "physical" Souvenir Spoon Museum, instead of only a "virtual" museum in cyberspace. This would be a lovely little museum where people can see these beautiful spoons and learn about the history that they represent.
However, to create such a non-profit museum requires funding.
I figure that for about $2,000,000 (which is not a lot of money in the current scheme of things) that we could buy a building, create the worlds largest and best collection of silver spoons, and provide for continuing expenses. I will even seed the museum by donating my large collection of spoons.
Of course, as a non-profit museum this would even be a legitimate tax deduction.
This is not as absurd as it might sound. In the 1890's there was a lady, Mabel Brady Garvan. She was a wealthy socialite who would have been forgotten in the dustbin of history. But she collected a few silver spoons and silver objects and donated them to Yale University. That collection has made her name a part of history.
This museum will do the same for someone. Will it be you?
