Infrasound
has a frequency - that's its pitch - too low for human ears to
perceive.
Most elephant communication is infrasonic -- elephants can hear each
other,
but we can't hear them. Because of the way sound travels through
the atmosphere, infrasound can travel much
further than high-frequency sound. Infrasonic calls enable male
elephants to find fertile females. And
elephant
families who are foraging several kilometers apart use
infrasonic calls to coordinate their patterns
of movement.
At
midday
in the dry savanna, an infrasonic elephant call might carry over an
area
of about thirty square kilometers. In the middle of the night, its
range
might be even greater. And elephants aren't the
only animals to use infrasound. Blue and
finback
whales make powerful infrasonic calls that can
travel thousands of kilometers through the
ocean -- because water is such a good sound
conductor. Hippos and rhinos also make some
infrasonic calls --
but neither species has a widespread social
organization
that requires communication over long
distances.
What are the practical implications for infrasonic sound?
Medically there is a new
Device
called the Chaos Chi Machine (QGM) version 4.1 using infrasonic sound
to
release knots (Trigger Points) and promotes healing in the human
body and animals. The 2001
Kentucky
Derby Winner used infrasound treatments to
keep the winner in peak shape.
The winning time was the fastest since Secretariat!!!
The low frequency sound waves
calm trauma and softens up blockages that
cause pain...
Its use by Doctors, Chiropractors, Vets, and Massage Therapists is becoming very popular as pain is diminished without drugs and the cause it treated instead of the symptoms.
