Homeopathy is a powerful system of medicine
that
is over 200 years old. A German Physician named Dr. Hahneman made the
first
discovery of the scientific principles known as homeopathy. It is based
on the premise that certain natural substances are able to stimulate
the
body's own healing mechanisms, allowing the body to heal itself. After
symptoms of a condition have been alleviated, homeopathy works to
reestablish
internal order at the deepest levels. Because very small doses are
used,
all this can be accomplished without negative side effects.
How it Works
Some components of homeopathic formulas are
direct
extracts of active ingredients, with the chemistry of the active
ingredient
being the primary method of their therapeutic action. Other components
are more dilute. It is thought that the electromagnetic properties of
these
components are responsible for their therapeutic effects.
During the homeopathic production process,
many homeopathic ingredients are systematically diluted through a
process
of succession. Succession, the key to potency, is a system of
specialized
agitation during the production process. It is thought that this
process
excites the electrons of the active ingredient, allowing the molecules
to, in effect, "rub shoulders" with the molecules of a diluent, which
is
usually water and alcohol. In this way an exchange of molecular
information
occurs so that the entire mixture becomes potentized with the strength
of the original active ingredient. This process is made possible by the
electromagnetic properties of homeopathy.
HOMEOPATHIC PRINCIPLES
Homeopathy's effect on the body is best
explained
by the principles of "Like Cures Like" and of "Small Doses"
LIKE CURES LIKE
The principle of "Like Cures Like" means that
a substance which can cause certain symptoms in a healthy individual
when
taken in large doses can cure those same symptoms when taken in small
doses.
As an illustration, production of medically active homeopathic
medicine
from onions can relieve the symptoms of teary eyes and a runny nose.
Western
medicine uses this principal often in vaccination therapy where small
amounts
of a toxin are used to stimulate the body's reaction against that toxin.
SMALL DOSES
The homeopathic concept of "Small Doses" means
that very small doses of active ingredients are all that is needed to
stimulate
the body's healing process. In homeopathy, a number in front of the
letters
X and C designates the potency of ingredients. The letter X indicates a
1 to 10 dilution and the letter C indicates a 1 to 100 dilution. As a
general
rule, the strength or potency of an ingredient increases as the number
in front of the X or C increases.
