March
20th Got up and did a bit of work. I'm having a few problems with my project. /Suprise. No really. Shocking, isn't it. I guess I can't keep focused on one problem and just went doing several problems at once, which is never a good idea. I guess I've made some progress. My animals are now wandering around aimlessly, which is a start, right? One slight problem. They can walk across oceans. But that's nothing right? *cough* Honest. So yeah, I guess that's my next goal, although I'm not quite sure how to stop them yet. I know I'll have to link the Lion class to the Animal array I've yet to implement (which is a good place to start). I need to match the co-ordinates of the animal to the neighbouring coordinates of the map, so I can check whether that direction is water or not. From there, I could do with getting the lion to be sleepy and resting after a little while so it's not wandering TOO much. Then maybe make the animal thirsty after a short period, and so it goes to drink. I've got grand plans, but right now, that's all they are - plans. I wish I could make more progress, but I guess I shouldn't complain. I'm learning all of this from scratch. There's very little online, and so I'm making this up as I go along. Which is never a good thing. Guess I'll never be satisfied with it. Ah well. Other than that, I didn't do anything. That's why Sunday's are nearly always the shortest entry of the week. At least I get to see Holly tomorrow. Hopefully it'll just be us. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy hanging out with other people, but we rarely get time to ourselves, whether it's in or outdoors. Just a pain I guess. Time will tell. And now I'm off to listen to some Hitchhikers (thanks Om =P). Night Chris.

March 21st Mood: Alright Well, so much for spending quality time together =P. Ran into Kay, Phil etc. and spent the afternoon with them. Didn't do too much (meh!), so this entry will be short. Got nothing really to write about. I guess something good to take from this afternoon is that it seems as if Holly is genuinely becoming comfy with me, which I guess is something, right? Even though it's our second month together tomorrow, it feels longer. Even our friends agree. I guess (doing alot of that) things are settling down now. Not literally, but getting to know one another better. Sorta. You can only get to know someone so much when you're always out and about with others. I guess it's just a much slower process this way. Ah well. Long as I have her, I can't really complain. She makes me happy, and hopefully I make her happy. That's what counts, right? I guess I just feel selfish at being frustrated for not having much quality time with her. It kinda feels as if I'm unhappy with the way things are going. I'm not, far from it really. I guess I'm just stressed out and things are appearing a bigger deal than they really are. I love her to bits, and ain't afraid to say it (although, I'm embarrassed to say it at times, which is weird). Annnnnnd I'll shut up. I'm rambling, I know. Not sure what I'm talking about. Stupid indigestion. So yeah, didn't really do much else. I'll just talk about some movie rumours then be done for the night since I haven't done any work. Too tired to do it (another day wasted....). I'll start with X-Men 3. Apparently Layer Cake's director is going to be directing the movie, with Layer Cakes main actor becoming the next James Bond. Also, Gambit, Beast and Angel (as a female) will be in the new movie that starts next year. So that looks promising although it's not certain they're going ahead with the Dark Phoenix storyline. Spider-man 3 seems to be getting confusing. Not content with introducing several characters such as Dr. Conners (Lizard), the Green Goblins son and Johansson's son (the air force guy), and now people are saying they want to apply for the Black Cat. Furthermore, a guy has been cast for the bad guy! What the? I dunno what they're playing at. Maybe they want to confuse me. Bastards. Night. Chris.

March 22nd Mood: Alright And ever so long. /lies. I did bugger all today really. Went into town early after getting no sleep whatsoever (I don't know what's wrong with me =/). The town hell is getting a make over. It's looking pretty good although I never go in there (except today, obviously), so yeah. After a quick stop off at Morrisons for a Frijj white chocolate milkshake (yum!!!), went to the big tescos. And that was the highlight of my day. No really. That's all I did. I got home, had a nap. Did a bit of work on my project, although achieved very little. I'm trying to get my animals to wander. Which I did. Although I'm trying to achieve this with a better program design. I need a bit more time to finish it off. Right now the animal is being generated in on a land only pixel, which is a start, but it's still moving wherever it likes. Which obviously isn't good. I can't find the time to do it. Tonight I have to have an early night, while I can't do much tomorrow 'cos I'm up early to help Terry out with his work until the afternoon, and I can't stay up too late because I'm off to Manchester early on Thursday. GAH. Stupid social stuff :P. Oh well, hopefully it won't take too long. Can't be bothered with Terry tomorrow, but oh well. Done now. Night. Chris.

March 23rd Well, today was kinda pointless. At least the part helping Terry. I got up early and rushed around for him so I could help him out with his project (while neglecting my own!) to achieve practically nothing. Terry wanted to ghost the server node and demonstrate some programs running across the cluster to me. If only it was that easy. The CD Terry had for Norton Ghost didn't work at the boot up, even when the BIOS was changed. We tried burning the required files to a new CD, but we only had access to a machine with Red Hat on. That couldn't detect the slave CD-RW. D'oh. So we had to switch them, and try again. It detected it, but still wouldn't burn. After that, we gave up, and Terry tried showing me the programs. Again, the server wouldn't pick up the files on the CD. So we tried putting them on a floppy disk. But we didn't have access rights. So we had to resort to using windows (*gasp* :P). Got them on the CD and Terry couldn't remember how to compile the C files to MPICH files so that they could run on parallel processors. Even after looking online it didn't work. So we were screwed basically, and achieved bugger all. Went back to Terrys and endured 2 hours of Terry showing off what holiday he's going to have. Then again, I guess I would too if I was going on it. He's going to Tokyo for a few nights, and then Sydney and Cairns in Australia. He'll be going hotair ballooning, visiting koala farms, going on excursions, and so on. Dream-like stuff, but yeah, not the best thing to show to a guy who's skint and stressed. Played a quick game of UT, but thanks to an erratic mouse (ball-less might have something to do with it), so I didn't do amazingly well. Erk. Other than that, I spent the voucher Jamie gave me for my birthday. Yeah, I know, that's what I was thinking. But I thanked him. I bought two Qees (found HERE). Hopefully I'll get the cooler ones, because the two green/white ones suck. They're selected at random, but hopefully I'll get the evil egg as one! One last thing before I go off to read some more War of the Worlds (which is suprisingly graphic - the aliens have started torching people!), just wanted to say: YIPEE! I cracked my wandering algorithm. I found the problem - it was a major error with my coding. Instead of: y++ It was meant to be: ++y. Totally huge mistake. Not. But I don't care. It's working. It's done. Night. Chris.

24th After getting ready and getting into town, made a quick stop at MaccyD's for a strawberry shake (detouring at the bank - I've now got £20 to last me until my loan comes. Whenever that is! I'm so screwed lol). They're so good, and possibly better than Cream Egg McFlurrys. Anyway, I met up with Holly (after seeing Kay and her friend Gemma walk right past me unawares), and we made our way to the station. As we cut through the shopping center and down onto Church Street, we ran into Kay and Gemma sat on the benches. We chatted for a bit and it turns out they're going Manchester too. Strange timing, but fair enough. We get to the station and bought our tickets when we find out that Phil and others are going to Manchester too, on the same train. By the time we got to Manchester, there must have been about 20 people or so all going to Manchester from Blackburn from the same groups. lol. Even ran into Dibbs, who is becoming more and more like Kelly Osbourne each day (Kay pointed it out, but it's true). So yeah, we got into Manchester about 12ish, and just took our time walking over to Piccadilly station. With just over an hour to kill, we went to the Arndale to get something to eat. Well, I only got a Cream Egg McFlurry (shocking, eh?). Side thing that popped into my head. There's this one guy I see around every so often that's so amazingly smug at times, it hurts. Nothing wrong with having confidence, but when you act like you're the ish, it bugs the hell outta me. Especially when other people increase his ego. Fools. Anyway, back to it. Me and Holly wandered around town for a little while, and sat in Piccadilly Gardens for a while. It was nice just having time to ourselves and cuddling. It started getting towards 1pm, and so we made our way to the station. After a bit of a play on the vertical escalators, we waited for Jon, Jeanne and Danny to show up. Jon gave us a call and said he wasn't too far away, but would tell Danny to meet us at Platform 11. So we wait. Then Danny and his mate appear, looking for me. They obviously didn't recognise me, while I spotted them straight away. So they just wandered, looking confused and such. But yeah, it was pretty funny watching him walk around like a lost dog. Well it had to be done =P. Holly kept telling me to go say hi, and just as I got up, Jon and Jeanne showed up. I waved to them, and made Danny and his mate look like right prats =P. The rest of the day was spent wandering. It was weird, as a group, we barely talked. I expected Jon and especially Jeanne to be really bouncy and hyper active. Nope. Jeanne seemed miserable and totally lost. Jon tried to get things going a little, but nada. Danny was probably the most talkative and hyper, while his mate was totally out of it. To be fair, I spent most of my time talking to Holly. It was really strange, bringing my LPU world with my real world. My LPU friends with Holly, Kay and so forth. Kay ran into us when we went back to the food court for food. Shaun thought that one of them was giving them a funny look. Jeez. I could be a little harsh, but I won't. Just annoyed really for telling Phil. At least nothing happened. After that, we wandered around Afflecks for a bit, ran into yet MORE people from Blackburn - Joanna and Paddy (grr). Weird really the numbers we ran into. We ended up just sat being quiet at the triangle. Everyone seemed so quiet, while I was pretty hyper. Hell, I was really happy. No guesses at to why (hint - she's short and cute :p). But yeah, I don't understand why everyone was so...quiet? down? I dunno. It only really got going as we started to say goodbye. I'm not sure everyone really got on, or maybe they were apprehensive or something? I'm not too sure how Holly felt about the whole thing. She didn't seem too bad, but who knows? Not I said the spider to the fly. On the way home, we just shared my baby and I did get a bit of a cuddle. Sorta, but better than nothing, right? Ah who cares, it was great just being with her. Other than that I had a pretty quiet night. Didn't do any uni work, nothing happened on the LPU and I just worked on a little something for the website. ;) Night. Chris.

25th Mood: Good Yay! I made some more progress with my work. Okay, it is hardly groundbreaking, but I'm not particularly fussed. After less than an hours worth of work, I'd got my animals getting tired after lots of walking, and so they go to sleep until they're not tired any more. Sounds good, huh? I don't know what to do next now. I haven't a clue how to get the animals to move to a specific co-ordinate. I don't know the maths behind it, so I can't program it. I've tried googling it, but I'm not sure exactly what to search for, so I guess I'll have to ask the good doctor Steve when I get back after the Easter break. Oy. With that done much more quickly than I had anticipated, I was kinda stuck for work, but I couldn't really waste the opportunity, especially if I go out tomorrow evening, so I ended up doing project work. I've started to do a final draft of my design section. I'm much more happy with it's progress now. I've done about half of the penultimate draft now (yes I realise I just contradicted myself, but I want to add a few more notes and references to make it look better) and hopefully I can finish it off tomorrow or Sunday at the latest. I want it out the way, and if I have time, I'd like to add the Implementation section to the final draft of my project as well. If you're confused, let me explain. When someone makes a computer program, they follow a series of steps. They first see whether the project is feasible - i.e. whether it's worth doing and if you can do it in the time available. If so, the computer guys analyse the problem and come up with a list of things it should do. From there, the program is designed, produced and tested. After that, it's evaluated to see if it's any good and what the guys learnt from it. That's the process I have to follow. Now I got 85% (A++) for my feasibility study which is obviously a good start, and I've done an analysis section. It's short and only contains a questionnaire, but it's looking good now I've formatted it properly and put it at the end of my feasibility study. I'm currently in the process of adding the design section to the end of the analysis section so my project is in one big file, rather than several smaller files. This allows me to transport things quicker, and also keep focuses on the content rather than the layout and formatting. I've still little bits to do of the design section, so it might be as late as Monday, but I'll definitely have that and my work so far for the implementation section done by the time I get back. I guess what I should aim to do next is to get several animals of the same type (lions for example) wandering the world simultaneously. That would look pretty good, right? Other than that, I didn't do much. Watched Home and Away - it was cool to see the drug-abuser, murderous stalker Sarah find the safe house of half of the soaps characters and watch her hold them hostage. And she's killed someone (obviously I know who I keep ahead in Home and Away thanks to the official site), shocking huh? You don't see this quality in Corrie. And as for Emmerdale, well Steph recently pushed her best friendly (unintentionally) over the side of a ferry. All other soaps would stop at showing someones leg fly over the side of a rail. Not Emmerdale. Cut to a widescreen shot of the ferry and someone (obviously a dummy, but yeah) falling off the side. Not bad. But no, it didn't even stop there. It cuts back to Steph watching Shelly (the victim who's afraid of water) trying to swim as she's sucked UNDER THE FERRY. Woah. You don't even see that in action movies. God bless soap episode milestones! Yes, it excited me =P. Not much else happened tonight really. Other than that, I just listened to a 'song' my DJ Gamer that was well..painful. In more ways than one. He tried screaming (it was a rock/metal track) and it sounded as if he was being murdered or something. Agony lol. It's a sure way to cheer someone up though! Lookin forward to tomorrow, get to see my girly :p. Night. Chris.

March
26th Today was pretty good I guess. It had one or two blah moments, but yeah, I can't complain, no major problems. Didn't get much sleep last night (I couldn't focus on the second series of Hitchhikers, yet I couldn't fall asleep!) which might have made me a little grumpy. Ah well. Met up with Holly after choosing my Dads birthday present (it was cheap, but I don't have much money right now, so I don't have much choice). We sorta wandered around a bit, didn't do anything special. Wandered to the cellar and just did the usual wander/chat thing. It was pretty good in one way because Holly was more affectionate. I can explain one instance, but the others I can't. Not that I'm complaining. On the other hand, there's still something bothering me. If it was once, it wouldn't be so bad. However, it's every week recently. Yes it's possibly me just being daft, but I can't help it. I mean, with the way things are...ahh..I dunno. Unfortunately, I didn't spend too long with Holly. She and Nat had to attend a family BBQ. Yes, a BBQ in Blackburn's weather. Go figure. Anyway, turns out the BBQ is only down the road from me, so I thought I might as well come with. After a slight diversion to get my Dads card and present, we went to the bus stop. And by now, anyone that reads this will know things never go easy: Nat: "Yeah, let's get that bus!" *Holly and Nat (after breaking the machine) get on* Me: "Return please" *ticket machine screws again* *Driver WRITES it on in biro the ticket's details!* *Driver gives me the biro'd ticket* O_O! At least he wrote an ID on the back, which is better than the last one. Exactly how hard is it to cancel the last printed ticket and print a new one? I know they can do it, I've seen it done before, yet these guys can't? Jeez. It's a good job the other drivers are totally uninspired by their job that they don't care if someone gets on with a ticket written in biro! I guess it wasn't the drivers day. After trying to print some more tickets, he hits the machine, gets his jacket and walks off. Leaving us on the bus. ... Another bus pulls in behind, and so we tried getting on that. Well, we got on, although only after the bus driver laughing at my ticket! =P. At least he found it funny. After walking Holly and Nat all of 10 feet from the bus stop (they failed to tell me that :p), I got home and worked on my project some more. I'm making good progress and it's looking alot better than it did. I'm happier with it, but not HAPPY. Yes, there is a difference. I won't be happy until I know I can do no better. I'll settle for reasonably happy however given my lack of time. I should be finished tomorrow if I work at it. I decided to go out and have a bit of a break from all my work (because I've achieved a fair bit in the last week - I think?). I thought I'd save myself some money and go out for Vies rather than the Cellar. It meant I could watch Doctor Who and still get out for a few hours. Speaking of Doctor Who. WHAT. THE. FRIG?! Talk about bizarre. I'm still trying to make sense of it! I understood the story, but the enemy...it's controller...and just wow. lol. I'm also convinced I wasn't meant to enjoy it. My sister kept walking in and out of the room. The phone rang. The TV decided to freak out. The BBC screwed up the sound. Sign from above methinks. AHH I still need to get back to Catherine about that suprise party! After a bit of a strange (yet reasonably nice) mix of lambrusco and vermouth, I went out. I had a feeling the night would be good while queuing up, and I have to say, I was right. The music was impressive. The regular DJ wasn't on, and it was one of the Vies regulars. He played Forgot About Dre and Bombs Over Baghdad. Although the fool played it while I was at the bar! As if you play some quality songs like that early on! As the night drew on, he played DJ Shadow (!!!), Chemical Brothers (twice), Prodigy, Daft Punk AND Linkin Park. Talk about a good night for music. Seems I was right, although some barsteward pinched my drink while I was on the dancefloor. I was barely out. Most of the times I was out was just to check on the others (Kay, Kirsty) or get a drink of water. It was amazingly hot - people were sweating like fat men in a sauna =D. Unfortunately, the majority of the people there hadn't a clue who the tracks were by. Talk about deprived. Sent Holly a text as I got home saying that she means lots to me. It may have been inspired by alcohol, but it's true. She does. Night. Chris.
