Camera acts like Archie’s eyes. Open to a blurry, grey interior. Eyes close. Eyes open again, this time a little more in focus, but still a little out of focus. Archie’s eyes close a final time, to complete the re-focusing of his eyes. A large fan is the only feature of his view, and is almost successful in drowning out the traffic as light breaks through his closed blinds. Zoom to profile of Archie’s left. He wakes up, with messed hair, stubble and an awful headache. The light is too much for Archie’s eyes, so he squints.

Archie, sits up, feeling his face and grumbles. He’s in familiar surroundings. His own home. Archie suddenly realises where he is, and jumps a little, startled.

Archie (puzzled, gravely voice): “Home..?”

Anna, Archie’s ‘girlfriend’, used in the least possible way, calls out from the bathroom.

Anna (shouting, showering): “I let myself in... hungry? I am. Coffee would be great right now.”

Archie (half asleep): “Umm...yeah, ok.”

Archie slides out of bed, towards the camera, and makes his way to the kitchen, half asleep in a shirt and boxers, walking into his cat.

Archie (grumbling): “Stupid cat.”

Archie yawns, whilst rubbing his face.

Archie puts the kettle on, only to find that Anna has been cleaning. He can’t find anything. He begins searching all his cupboards. The mugs are found in the last possible cupboard, and the cereal falls out and begins to pour onto the counter, which falls onto his one sock-covered foot.

Archie sighs, picking the cereal box up and closing the cupboard. The kettle clicks and Archie just walks on the cereal back to the kettle. He makes two cups of coffee and makes his way back into the living room, to find Anna there, waiting in his bathrobe on his couch watching TV.

Anna (turning around to him, taking the coffee): “Thanks.”

Archie (confused, walking to the couch): “No problem.”

Archie sits down besides Anna, and looks around, confused.

Anna (to Archie): “What happened to you? I’ve been trying to phone you for days, but you didn’t call me back. I had to get my friend to force your door open.”

She is interrupted by her cell phone ringing.

Anna: “Just a second.”

A conversation between Anna and her cell phone begins whilst Archie just begins stretching his shoulders. His hands begin working their way down his left arm, massaging, to find a tattoo of a horizontal line entwined with a vine, across his wrist.

Archie (whispering): “What the?”
