WELCOME TO MY STORY
My purpose is to share with you what I consider a very exciting diversified life.
DON ANDERSON KNOW AS OLDMAN
There are six billion stories out there and mine is only one. As I have been told many times by my parents I was born in a blizzard on January 15, 1935.Of course I have no memories of that. I was the second child and have some pleasant memories of my early childhood. I started school in Weymouth Mass. A small surburban town twenty miles south of Boston.I remember that my dad had a beautiful flower garden there and I didn't have enough sense to get off the school bus on my first day of school and rode the bus to the end of the line. I cried half the way home and was so ever happy when my mother came to pick me up.I can remember my dad building my second home twenty miles north of Boston. It was a nice two story house with a much larger vegetable garden. He would make us kids pick out all the rocks and throw them in one pile. My dad was a cubscout leader and scouting had a great influence on my life. I had a black cocker spaniel dog that went to school with me every day and sat right by my desk. I was sick the day they took our class picture but my dog Blacky went to school and they put him in my class picture instead of me.

Our next move was to a much smaller house that needed a lot of work. My dad was ambitous and did all the work himself. It was a nice place for kids as it was located on a small fifty foot wide river with what seemed to be a huge forest on the other side. It was here that I had my first fishing experience and got interested in nature and exploration of my enviornment. My school interests were mostly centered around recess and later atheletics. I found boyscouts exciting especially the outdoor camping trips. Later on my dad would take us mountain climbing in the white mountains.During highschool my interests were developed in music and religion. I became a pretty good trumpet player and became the president of the highschool band. I don't know how my mother put up with the many hours of practice I would do every day. It became easier for her as I became more accomplished. My favorite subjects in highschool were math and history and I hated English. Before long I found myself enrolled in an ivy league college where I continued my music in the college band and played college baseball. My chief interest in college was playing ping pong. I was not a good student but was very idealistic wanting to become a medical missionary. I was very torn by the religion and philosophy courses and the problem of evil disturbed me so much that I changed colleges and went to a Bible college. I studied comparative religions and thought that I had all the answers at that early age. Then something happened. I learned how to make money. I became fascinated how you could buy something cheap and sell it for a profit. My interest in college diminished much to my parents disappointment and before long found my self in business for myself making a lot of money wheeling and dealing. My first real business involved buying used textbooks from college students and selling them to bookdealers. I ended up selling to Barnes and Noble in New York City. I got more experience working as a book buyer for the Nebraska Book Co. They were a young firm and I had a huge territory, the whole east coast. Within a year I had my first retail store, first wife, and first kid.
