The Différent Mark (Different) is the distinctive punch mark, which guarantees you of the Monnaie de Paris quality, origin and authenticity for its collector medals. An 1832 ordinance prescribes that all medals bear the Different mark of La Monnaie's Director.

Until 1879, this punch was the personal mark of the institution's director. In January 1, 1880, a Different Mark, which represents, a cornucopia of abundance, was adopted across all directorships which is used today.
