Palm Beach County Convention Center can boast of a new series of coin shows, beginning with a three-day show in early November 2004. Jeff had a table with another dealer and went up the first day, which was dealer only day. Mutt said he would like to go up on Friday and walk the show plus spend some time at the Ft. Lauderdale Coin club table. So, they agreed to meet at Jeff’s house at eight o’clock and drive up together. Palm Beach is 60 miles north from where Mutt lives in Hollywood. Jeff lives in the north end of Broward County, so there is only an extra thirty miles to travel to get to the Convention Center where the coin show was being held. Traffic was not too bad. They arrived ten minutes before opening, parking in the City Place garage, which is free for customers. This location is close to the hall with only Okeechobee Blvd. to cross at the light to get there.
Jeff had a badge but Mutt had to register as V.P of FLCC to get in. Almost immediately Mutt met several club members and many local dealers he knew.
The club table had not been setup yet, so Mutt decided to walk around. Not much foreign, which is his specialty. There was one dealer from somewhere in Florida who was all setup with tokens and medals. Mutt looked around and went through his junk box of medals marked $10. each. Feeling he should not spend much time, as it was still very early, he quickly picked out two interesting items, tried to get a better price, but settled on paying as asked.
This medal was struck for the President of Argentina Doctor José Evaristo de Uriburu, who served from 23 Jan 1895 - 12 Oct 1898. He had been the Vice President under President Luis Sáenz Rock and upon his resignation in 1895 the Doctor attained the Presidency. President Rock was reelected for a second term in 1898.
The inscriptions are as follows: Obverse - COLECIO DE LAS ESCDELAS PIAS
Reverse COLOCACION DE LA PIEDRA FUNDAMENTAL (POSITIONING OF THE FUNDAMENTAL STONE) above around, 12 DE APRIL 1896 below around. Within circle of dots, PADRINOS / EXMO. SR PRESIDENTE / DE LA REPUBLICA / DR J. E. URIBURU / Y / MACDALENA DORRESO / DE / ORTIZ BASUALDO
The medal measures 46 mm and was struck by B. Orzali & Co. Forrer indicates that they issued a large number of Argentine medals around the turn of the last century.

Mutt showed the medal and plaquette to Jeff, who seemed to like them. The rest of the morning Mutt walked around the show. He picked up a copy of the Heritage Auction catalog for future reading. Two visitors inquired about the Ft. Lauderdale Coin Club and were invited to a meeting.
Lunchtime came and Jeff could not find his booth partner for quite a while. But finally he showed up and declined an invitation for lunch, so Mutt and Jeff took a walk back across the street to City Place. They had been told the best hamburgers in town were at the Cheese Cake Factory, so that is where they went.
After a great lunch, they headed back to the show for another couple of hours, before the drive home. Not too much traffic, so they got to Jeff’s place by 7PM and Mutt made it home in the next fifty minutes. Both said they had had a good day. Jeff remarked, "Well Mutt you have another adventure to put up on the Internet", as he said good-by.
