CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
From the cookbook, Drifting Wood
1 cup butter*
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 level cups Toll House chocolate chips
2 level cups pecans**

Cream butter and sugars well. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add to sugar-egg mixture. Mix well. Add chips and nuts and stir. Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. When I put the cookie dough on the sheets I flatten them slightly, so they will all bake evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

* If use 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 cup butter the cookies will cook crisper.

** Can use walnuts, but pecans taste better.

Almost everyone that has tried these cookies think I should go into the baking business on these cookies alone. My wife has shipped these to me to ease my homesickness when I travelled, to ease the separation from home.

After you eat all those cookies, you are going to need some exercise. Fogdog Sports has some good prices!
