For those who may have visited this page in the past I want to start by saying that I have gotten over a lot of my issues about being a little shorter than average. I have actually come to appreciate the uniqueness that my short status affords me. I'm also discovering that there are many many other women out there who fall a little short of being super model height status and for the most part they're all okay. Many of the same challenges that I used to face as a short person are still present however, limited availability of nice mature clothing for the height challenged. I find this particularly daunting now that I hold a somewhat professional job as an engineer in a government agency. I continue to struggle with finding pants that are the right length that weren't designed for kids. To deal with this I wear heels a lot which is probably taking a huge toll on my feet. Anyway, I will still share the things I have observed in my life as a shorter person.
Don't get me wrong I'm not bitter about being short. Sometimes I kinda like it. After I was 18 years old and hadn't broken 5 feet yet I realized that I may as well get used to it. I do feel that short people deserve reparations for all the crap we've had to take in this tall peoples world, hovever. This is why I'm starting up the effort for short people for world domination. The mission of my effort is to create a short people friendly world where clothing racks are filled with pants that don't have to be rolled up to be worn and skirts that stop short of our heels, and cars made so that short people don't have to fear being pulverized by the airbag because they're on top of the steering wheel. In the mean time here are a few cool things about being short that we shorties can reflect on until we take over.
So you can see that being short is not all bad. And as soon as this short people for world domination effort gets off the ground things are really gonna be awesome.
I recently found some pages dedicated to the ills and joys of being vertically challenged
MSN Article about dating short guysMy first proposal as founder and current leader of The Society for short People is the declaration of August 16 as "National Short People's Day". Correct me if I'm wrong but upon scanning my calender I assesed that there were no major national holidays in the month of August. I also noticed that there was no holiday dedicated to showing appreciation for someone short in your life. So I randomly selected the 16th(actually I was born on the 16th), as the day all people are to show someone short that you care. It may take a while for the greeting card companys to catch wind of this, but if all you other short people get on the bandwagon and promote this holiday it'll be off the ground in no time. So everybody mark your calendars today.

I've noticed lately that this page has been getting a lot more attention than I expected upon creating it. I think that's awesome. I get excited when I hear from other short people out there going through the same adventures that I go through. So I feel prompted to more actively update and improve this page. Now don't get mad at me if you catch me slacking off. Afterall, I'm a college student and I have to squeeze this in in my free time. But I do promise to do some upgrades in the near future. So if you're checking my page out for the first time, do come back to see my efforts, and tell a friend too. And if you visit and you like, or even if you don't like what you see, let me know by emailing me or signing my guestbook. Thanks for checking me out and peace and love to everybody (even you tall people out there, it's not your fault we can't all be shorties)
