My Favorite Chocolate Dessert
Recipe
This is the recipe for my favorite chocolate dessert that
my mother used to make. Traditionally she always made it in
a regular or convection oven, but the recipe has now also
been adapted for the microwave. I have only made the dish
myself a couple of times, but it turned out OK, perhaps not
as great as the original.
Chocolate Pudding
- Melt 4oz/125g butter.
- Add to dry ingredients with 1/2 cup milk.
- 1 1/2 cups self-raising flour.
- 3/4 cup sugar.
- 1 tablespoon cocoa.
Should be stiffish dough.
Sauce
- 3/4 cup sugar.
- 1 tablespoon cocoa.
- 2 cups boiling water.
- Vanilla extract.
- Combine in a jug and pour over dough.
- Cook 350 deg. F/180 deg. C for 45 mins.
- It might boil over. Use large dish, with or without
lid.
Microwave version
- 1 cup self-raising flour.
- 1/2 cup brown sugar.
- 1/4 cup milk.
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Combine and stir in 1/2 cup sultanas.
- 1/2 cup brown sugar.
- 2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa.
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water.
- Same method. Cook elevated, uncovered 100% power for
5 1/2 to 6 1/2 mins.
- Stand for 5 mins before serving.
