Verde River Canyon Excursion Train
Clarkdale, Arizona

 Along the Canyon
In February of 1997, Anita and I traveled to Arizona to visit our son, Jeff, and daughter-in-law, Amy, at their home near Phoenix.
Jeff was soon to be transferred (he's in the Air Force) to Korea for a year-long tour of duty. While there, we drove up to Clarkdale
and rode the excursion train along the beautiful Verde River Canyon to Perkinsville. We saw lots of Bald Eagles (their nesting season)
and enjoyed the colorful scenery, like that in the panoramic photo above.

The recently-acquired FP-7s were not yet pulling the train when we rode on February 22, 1997.

Call 800-293-6245 for reservations and information. Weather was wonderful there in late February, and the drive from Prescott to Flagstaff on highway 89A is one of the most scenic and beautiful we've ever experienced. You'll want to spend some time in historic Jerome, a former mining community built on the side of a hill that is now home to a flourishing artist colony. In nearby Cottonwood is the Blazin' M Ranch, where you can enjoy a genuine Cowboy barbeque dinner and excellent "Singin' Cowboy" entertainment as well. Tell Chuck Mabry the "Kentucky Kid" sent ya!

Pull it down, Pick a Destination, then "Go To It!"
