NCBS 2002 Banquet Information

The banquet for the 2002 NCBS will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, California. There will be a no-host bar open at 6:30 pm and the banquet will start at 7:00 pm. The full meal will be several courses with chicken as the main entree. A vegetarian entree may be substituted at the time of the banquet.

The banquet cost is $39/each if received by Monday, October 22, 2002. It will help our club's cash flow if you can pay even earlier! If possible, please provide an email address so we can send your confirmation in an email message. The actual banquet tickets can be picked up at the show or at the banquet door. The price after October 22 will be $45/each. If you reserve early and need to cancel before October 22, we will give a refund of $37 after the show. So, you are only risking $2 if you order early! There is a limit of 500 seats total.

Every attempt will be made to honor seating requests. However, to fill tables, some catagories may need to be split or combined. Reserve early and encourage people you wish to sit with to do the same. Seating requests will be honored in the order that payment is received.

There are two ways to reserve your banquet seats:
Paper Banquet Reservation Form print and mail with check or money order (U.S. funds only)
eBanquet Online Reservation Form electronic payment (faster processing, use credit or ATM/debit card, international funds accepted too)

Why Banquets Cost So Much

Banquets cost more than a similar meal at a restaurant, we won't deny that. Some people use that excuse to not attend, but it is not a fair comparison. Even with a reservation, you cannot expect a restaurant to serve a party of 300-500 people for the price of their normal meals! If you've ever thrown a dinner party at home, you know that the more people you add, the more difficult it is to have all the food ready for everyone at once. To enjoy an awards banquet, everyone must eat at about the same time so they can hear the announcements, speeches, and presentations together. If you or someone you know wins, it is nicer to have a large crowd all find out together to congratulate with their applause! The hall is also expensive. The host club must recoop the cost by charging more than it pays for just the food and service. The Santa Clara Valley Canary & Exotic Bird Club is hoping to just break even and we are not trying make a lot of money on this National Show. The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the most expensive places in the U.S. and we have to live with these high prices every day. We love this area and think it is worth paying more to live here. We also like to have guests and show off our beautiful City and Bay, not to mention the nearby mountains and ocean! That is why we bid to host the NCBS. So, please attend the awards banquet if you are attending the NCBS and share the experience. There is no substitute to being there!
