If you are feeling doubtful, unhappy, or concerned about something, take Heart, Hold firmly to the thought - EVERYTHING IS WORKING FOR GOOD.

In case some of you were concerned, we were late in paying for our listing in Cagebird Magazine - and late in paying for our Show Ad. Everything has now been cleared and will appear in the next issue.

Our club cleared $200. at the July fire-works sale at Moonlite Shopping Centre. A big thank you to Phil Dubois for coming up from Southern California and taking over.

At our August meeting we will have a demonstration of show staging to prepare us for the Feather Show at the Mall in September. John and Janet Gileo will be in charge. The Trophies are already being prepared, the judges will be Frank Davis and Chuck Arella. By the way, if you need show cages contact Chuck immediately, and anyone desiring Border or Yorkshire cages, talk to Lona.

About our Annual Show --
The closing date for ads in the catalogue is August 15. Contact Ruth Mitchell if you want to place an ad. There will be more catalogues this year. All club members are reminded to patronize our advertisers. Bring your money (and your ad) to the August meeting.

Howard will greatly appreciate it if those of you who still do not have your tickets for the Raffle will get them from him at this meeting. Don't make him look for you!

The insurance for the show is still pending.

The next Executive Board Meeting will be at the home of Lona and Ed Schmalz on - PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE - Thursday, August 30 - at 8:00 P.M.

A CATASTROPHY happened recently to a good friend of the club. I'm sure you all remember Joe Carvalo and his cockatoo named Shiek who performed for us last year both at our meeting and at other meetings we attended. He was putting on his great show down at Knoxberry Farm and had been assigned a room right next to the Candle Shop. During the night the Candle Shop caught fire, and before anyone could stop it the room where all his birds were held was on fire also. He lost Shiek, and many other cockatoos, an Amazon, a Panama, a Mc Caw, and several of his other trained birds, a probable value over $250,000. We wish him well in his reorganization of his acts. I do understand that he is interested in any hand-trained hook-bills.

OUR CLUB EMBLEM as featured in the bi-centennial year 1976 on medallians and necklaces and purchased by many of our members will be made available again if there are enough people interested. The price is not settled - depends how many are ordered.

There is still time to sign up for the American Federation of Aviculture Convention in Hollywood, Florida - August 24, 25, and 26. The Gold Coast Exotic Bird Club, Inc. is the host club this year assisted by other bird societies in Florida. The "Fabulous" Diplomat Hotel is the site. The programs will feature forty of the top aviculturists, zoologists, ornithologists, and veterinarians. For example, Rosemary Low from England will speak twice, Dr. Ted la Febar will speak on "stress in birds", and Bob Barry, curator of birds at the Houston Zoo will address the "pitfalls of aviculture". They have planned several special tours including a trip to the famous Parrot Jungle, also a trip to a bird importer's holding station. If this is not enough to tempt you - see me at the meeting and I'll let you read the brochure.

And now about the Picnic: I'm sure I speak for all the club members when I say a great BIG THANK YOU to Jim and his cohorts for a beautiful picnic. This was positively one of the best picnics our club has ever held. There was such a great feeling of camaraderie! Everyone was glad to see everyone else - just a great feeling of all belonging to one big, friendly club. And the steaks, - the hors d'oeuves, - the salads, - and desserts, - NO waiting in line an hour or more, - and then the raffle table - took in just under $200. Dianne had brought her little red wagon and it was good she had - all the loot (things) she won! Best of all was the fact that no one wanted to go home! And all of this cost the club just $68.00. I would say it was a good job well done - Jim and Sue - thankyou.
