Santa Clara Valley Canary & Exotic Bird Club
November 12, 1972
Pot-luck: 1 P.M. Meeting 1:45 P.M.
Santa Clara High School Cafetorium
corner of Washington & Bellomy Sts., Santa Clara

Dear Members,

As the show season is just around the corner, I would like to invite and encourage you to show your birds at the Stockton Show, Dec. 2 & 3 and naturally at our own show Jan. 6 & 7. We try to keep imporving our birds each year & this is the only way to find out how good they really are. By keeping the birds home & not showing them, you really can't compare them until you see the birds side by side.

The catalogs will be given out to the members at the next meeting. The only ones to be mailed will be to people who live over 75 miles away.

Also along show lines, we received a letter from Gino Abbate of Elizabeth, New Jersey and he is definitely coming to the show & bringing some birds. He is also bringing a trophy and rosette to be presented at our show.

Plans are being set for the Sat. night banquet at the show (Jan. 6). We are in need of salads, desserts & relishes. The hams & turkeys have already been donated. Please feel responsible for contributing your share to the dinner. We expect around 100 so make your “dish” ample. Joe Gordon & Ruby Dubois are in charge, so please if you are not at the meeting to sign-up for something, call them, don't wait for them to contact you. Remember as a member and especially if you haven't contributed much during the year, this is where you can really help out, financially or by helping at the show. Help is always needed! Each is expected to do their share whether it's as a steward or helping with the lunches Fri., Sat. or Sun. or helping with the banquet. It's not fair for just a few to have to do all the work.

Don't forget the Blue Chip stamp book or the $3.00 per member for the Sat. & Sun. raffle items at the show.

Nominations & elections will be held at this meeting.

Nancy & Hershall Boring have extended an invitation to have our Dec. meeting at their home. This is to be a Xmas pot-luck party at the usual date & time. More in the next newsletter.

Pot luck as usual, A through H bring a hot dish, I through P bring dessert and Q through Z bring a salad. Please bring your own tableservice and something for the raffle table. Also bring your By-laws as they are to be amended.

The show committee has received a letter of declination from Don Foster to judge the Type Birds. We are very happy to announce that Frank Martin from Studio City has accepted our invitation to judge. Thanks Frank!

Sorry Len & I won't be with you this meeting as Len is judging the Columbia Canary Club Show in Vancouver, Washington, Nov. 10, 11 & 12.

See you in Dec.
