I'm sorry to have to report that we have lost another member of our club - Mrs. Bonnie Velez of San Jose was killed recently in an automobile accident in Santa Cruz. Our kindest thoughts go to Clem and the children left.
We also sent our kindest thoughts toward Joe Vassello who lost so many birds when we had that awful hot spell. In fact we are always sorry when we hear about any of our members losing birds for any reason!
I think we owe a great big THANK YOU to Jon and Janet Gillio for the great job they did in co-chairing and directing such a fine Feather Show. Do you know that there were 175 birds entered???? We have no idea how many people were in attendance, but there were many, and they were all really interested to the extent that most of us workers were kept busy all day answering questions. I'm sure that Jan and John would want me to thank all the people who helped them.
The winners were:
BEST OF SHOW - Reno Xerri - Frill
1st in Division - Reno Xerri - Frill
1st in Division - Reno Xerri - Green Gloster Plainhead
1st in Division - Nikkie McClatchie - Cinnamon Border
1st in Division - Ruth & Jim Melody - Red vented Cockatoo
1st in Division - Carolyn Hansel - Domestic canary
1st in Division - Nikkie McClatchie - Team of 4 Glosters
The efforts of many who brought their birds just for display were appreciated.
While we are so busy thanking people, don't let us forget Lona's daughter-in-law for planning, drawing, and designing out fliers about our show. Margaret Worrell, we appreciate all the work you did - even to the tiny bird who almost fell of the tall tree!
And now about our Big Annual Show - and words from Howard -
The trophies have been ordered and will be ready in three weeks which is one month before the show!
The Catalogue will be out in the middle of October.
I have extra fliers - LOTS of them - so be sure to get some from me to place in special spots or to send to special people.
If anyone needs more raffle tickets for the show, Delilah will have them while Howard and Caroline are in Germany.
Those who have money to turn in, give this to Delilah also, then take some more tickets and sell them!
And about the show cages; we hope that they will be available right afer the first of November. At any rate, contact Chuck if you wish to order.
