For a time, USA Network had been persuaded to also show Sailor Moon, although they made further editing cuts in order to pack in more commercials. (To my knowledge, UPN has not made any additional such cuts.) However, USA has since dropped the show from their line-up.
More recently, Cartoon Network re-did their afternoon "Toonami" block, and both Sailor Moon and Robotech are part of the new line-up.
For complete details on all things Sailor Moon, the place to be is the
Save Our Sailors homepage. (Also a good resource on the effort to bring Anime to America.)
For starters, I had not received any feedback on it, meaning that I had to do all the searching by myself. I am far from "connected" in the anime world, which put me at a severe disadvantage. In addition, just searching the Internet itself for information is a daunting task. If you don't believe me, just look at the following table:
Search phrase (Searched through AltaVista, in "Any Language") |
Hits (8-18-97) |
Hits (8-13-98) |
anime | 92,460 | 1,011,530 |
bubble gum crisis | 50,160 | 272,481 |
the slayers | 1,276 | 35,220 |
Laws of Japanese Animation | 736,540 | 2,505,318 |
Obviously, having to comb through all these sites is a pain in the neck, and time is something I don't have enough of!
Finally, if other such lists didn't already exist, I'd be more willing to try and make time to get my own list off the ground. However, there are already several wonderful guides out there, (and I'll probably put a link to a couple of them on my main page, just as soon as I can figure out where I put thost @#$!! URLs...) Thus, I don't feel an overwhelming need to finish my own.
And all of this doesn't take into account the fact that it is far easier to put together a bad site than a good one, and I can't tell you how many spoilers I've come across without warning, thereby ruining the show for myself...
