For those interested in becoming Amateur (Ham) Radio operators, or certainly for those who have in the last few years become recently licensed in this radio/electronics avocation, I highly recommend the following book!

The book is Radio Handbook by William I. Orr W6SAI. In my opinion this book represents probably the best single text and compendium to understand Amateur Radio. This book will instruct those who really want to know how the physics of radio works, and also how radio equipment works. It will tell the new Ham and even the more seasoned veteran items such as:

An introduction to Amateur Radio communication (Chapter 1)

Direct Current and Alternating Current circuits (Chapters 2 & 3)

Communication receiver fundamentals (Chap. 6)

Frequency Modulation and repeaters (Chap. 8)

Radiation and signal propagation (Chap. 20)

Antennas and transmission lines (Chap.'s 21 & 23)

Specialized communications systems and techniques (Chap. 9), or even radio frequency interference. It will also walk you through any math and electronic arithmetic that you will need to know. Its a great book!
