Well, it seems that my absence from the last scheduled net was noticed, sorry about that! I had to attend to something that came up. In any case, we didn't get to discuss, "Bias". So, lets do that! We will get into Bernard Goldberg's book "Bias" on the next scheduled net on August 15th. Until then, lets think about the next coming books to read and discuss!
I really want to get into the book, "Hannibal", by Thomas Harris, the story of Hannibal Lector, of Silence of the Lambs. To date I have only seen the movie but, WOW, what a story! Here is a guy who cruses through the story killing and eating people, AND HE'S THE HEROIC CHARACTER!
He progresses through the story trying to improve the world and society by killing and eating (or at least serving to others) the second handers and malevolent characters of society. He also while doing this is defending the benevolent and what is good in society! He says to the FBI detective who is hot on his trail, "Would you accept a medal for that, and frame it on a wall to remind you of your integrity and incorruptibility? For that Clarice, you would only need a mirror"! Wow, this is my kind of story!
So, lets do, "Hannibal" in October. A nice chilling story to cuddle up with next to a warm fireplace at the onset of winter! Bring your best Silverware, candelabras and,,, appetizers? At least a nice Montrochet!
