Here are some great general and beginner's pages concerning creating webpages:
HTML Writer's Guild: The largest international organization of webwriter's. It also hosts a large collection of HTML resources.
Taliesin's HTML help: This is a version with frames and is easy to follow.
(There is a "no frames"
version also.) Taliesin is always willing to give any advice via email.
Teach
Me HTML: This has information for both beginner's and more advanced writers,
along with browser reviews, and a tutorial newsletter.
McJeff's HTML 101: This is broken
into "classes" and is a very straightforward way to learn HTML. Unfortunately, I
haven't found a "no frames" version of this page for you shell/BBS users.
Dave Kristula's Interactive
HTML Tutorial: This interactive tutorial walks you along the novice's path to
learning HTML. It's a bit slow in loading, but worth the wait.
Mike
Smith's HTML: A simple, yet informative guide to HTML. May be hard for
shell/BBS users to read.
Webmonkey
Tutorial: An easy-to-use dictionary-style HTML tutorial. Best viewed
graphically, though it appears to be readable for shell/BBS users as well.
Craig's "1" Stop
HTML: This is a good collection of things needed to create a web page.
The Top Fifteen Mistakes of
First Time Web Design: A page for customers who already have had experience
with designing pages. It might be helpful to you beginner's to know what avoid,
however! (My personal pages break most of the rules.. It's ok to play with
personal pages as long as they're readable! Commercial pages, however, generally
follow these when they want results.)
