Today, I wrote and passed the CNA Intranetware 4.11 exam. I was not able to find any braindumps on this or other Novell exams, so maybe this can help somebody planning to attain their CNA certification. I thought that this exam was about equal in difficulty compared to the Microsoft exams, except that there were no Transcenders or brain dumps to help focus your studies. The Transcender exams and braindumps enabled me to score over 90% in seven of nine MCSE + Internet exams.
For the CNA exam, I used the Novell Intranetware CNE book which has the necessary information for the exam, but there is absolutely no organization whatsoever to this book. It is 1600 pages long and you are given certain page numbers to read for each CNE exam, scattered throughout the entire book (20 pages here, 5 pages there, etc, etc). On top of this, the author subjects you to a barrage of ridiculous analogies, horrible jokes and Zen quotes from people like Dr. Seuss and Jerry Seinfeld. This author really needs to get out more ! For practice testing, I used the CNE Quizzer which was adequate, but over-rated as a study tool and nowhere near comparable to Transcender. Most of the questions were one-liners, as were the explanations, if there even was an explanation. However, I have heard that the new CNE Quizzer's contain more detailed explanations and in terms of value they can't be beat ($25 for 300 questions). This was all I used to study and it only took me eight days to do the readings, study and then write the exam. I have no background at all with Novell networks, except for what I learned in getting my MCSE. Anyways, on to the test….
Know Netware Administrator and Printing !!!! I had 15 questions on my exam and approximately 7 questions were adaptive requiring you to use the Netware Administrator and around four questions dealing with printing. I don't remember exact questions, but here's what you need to know before you test.
· The differences and syntax of Relative and Distinguished names
· How to set up print queues, print servers and printers
· How to set up Trustee assignments and Rights to Objects
· How to modify User properties for multiple users at once
· What the Organizational Role object is used for
· Rights needed to salvage files
· The syntax of login script commands (when to use REM, #, and quotations)
· How to create multiple users with the User_Template object
· When do NDS rights flow into the file system
· The syntax and uses of Map, Capture and NDIR commands
· The different types of NLM's and their file extensions
· How to pause a printer
· When and how to use an Alias , Directory map or Global group
· Where to assign user rights to access a printer (hint: at printer or print queue)
Well, that about covers my exam. Remember, make sure you're familiar with the in's and out's of NWAdmin and how to create all the different types of objects. You can download a free demo version of a Netware Administrator simulator program from www.pct-nas.com/.
This will help you familiarize yourself with the user interface, but you won't be able to save your changes unless you register it. BTW, at the end of the exam, you are required to fill out a survey and agree to a legal contract with Novell. If you don't complete this step, they will NOT release your certificate. I skipped it, thinking it was just another useless survey and then had to go agree to this contract at the Novell website before they would release my certificate. Anyways, I hope this helps and Good Luck !!
