Dating from Saxon times, the town was originally known as Twynham - the place between the waters - and later took its name from the magnificent Priory Church which has just celebrated its 900th birthday.

We also have one of the highest concentrations of old age pensioners in England.
More usefully, the town boasts ever expanding shopping facilities, some beautiful coastline and impressive sailing facilities.
