Lolth, the Demon-Queen of Spiders, has been vanquished from the Prime Material, her avatar suffering a chance defeat at the hands of a band of mortals. Although possessing many of the attribute of a lesser goddess, Lolth is also a demon prince. Like any demon who has suffered defeat on the Prime Material, the Spider Queen is now barred from entering that plane for a certain span of time. Moreover, because of her loss, for a short time Lolth will even be too weak to leave her lair in the Abyss much less grant her priestess clerical powers.
Now, this leads to two different situations:
On the one hand, the temples and institutions of Lolth are at their nadir. Deprived of their patron's support, they can quickly and easily succub to attack. Indeed, the whole of drow society is vulnerable to great upheavals...which in turn could rock the whole of the Underdark.
One the other hand, as Lolth is too weak to invoke her divine attributes, she and her holdings are particularly vulnerable. While no sane band of heroes would attempt to battle a being of divine power (even a demonic pretender), in her weakened state, Lolth is unable to marshal those supernatural forces. So a direct assualt on her lair is possible.
Enter Mirkquin of Fangoria, a drowic priestess of Corellon Larethian. Her life's work has been to battle evil, especially that spawned by Lolth. Now, ironically, as the most powerful priestess of the Creator of Elvenkind, Mirkquin has assembled not one but three parties of adventurers to take advantage of Lolth's weakness.
The first party is to recover a ring of three wishes lost at the bottom of the ocean. This ring and its wishes will be used to broaden and amplify the casting of a single sending spell. Normally such a spell can be sent to any one individual anywhere in the cosmos. Using two wishes, Aeleron Graycloak, the Mage of Celene, will cast a sending to be heard by every drow on Oerth. The message: "Lolth is slain by mortals. Overthrow her evil rule. Rebel against her teachings"
The second party is to be in place as this magical message is broadcast throughout the Underdark. They are to help topple the Spider Queen's heirarchy. Their mission is to attack the temples and power centers of Lolth and aid others in doing the same. They are to begin the chain of dominos which will bring her reign to a crashing end.
And finally, the third party is to deal a blow directly against Lolth herself. Realistically, defeating Lolth herself is probably not going to be possible as it has taken too long to assemble a party. But, the more damage that the heroes can do to Lolth's forces, specifically her demonic generals and favored minions, the lower it will take the Demon-Queen to recover. And that time means the destruction of more of Lolth's temples in the Underdark and the death of more of her priestesses.
