I was reading terry's page and well here is what i have to say about assuming communism works. first off its socialism, i think its a little different when its communist. Anyways, we assume capitalism works in a given econ scenario because it does work in real life. For the most part China is a capitalist country or moving towards that. It just is communist by the ruling party etc, but there are businesses there and they are slowly privatizing the country. Basically in 20 years or so, China will be very capitalist outside of the fact that one party rules. Its like saying if we were in the united states and republicans made it illegal to not vote republican. Anyways we are supposed to assume that in the problem to see how it works so we can work on the math behind the problem.

Also i was mad today, since i stayed up last night to finish the unix shell i was writing with my partner. This made me real tired and i decided to skip that class at 8am as well as my 10am class and stats. Stats and the 10am class i dont really get much out of, but i figured the 8am class it'd be ok just once since i am caught up and why would he give a quiz the class before the midterm. anyways he gave a quiz. damn it. I also got my linksys wireless access point today. I used a software program to up its power to 100mwatts so it should have about 3 times as much range. it runs kinda slow though, there is a noticeable lag when you do things (like 1 second or so) i guess thats just since its wireless. but it can download files and stuff pretty well.

Guess i havent updated in a while. Well whats up anyways. class still is class. i am starting to get the hang of my lab, so at least thats good. my OS class, project 1 is pretty much finished, mostly because my partner is a very good partner, and ididnt do that much work, did like 30% of the coding i'd say. at least i feel ok that i learned the ins and outs of C better so i'm not gonna have as hard a time on the next one. our project works so well we'll probably get an A on it . midterm for that class is wednesday and i think i'm fairly prepared already. cs131 is still just a ton of BS, doing retarded java applets all the time. oh well at least i'm learning java. and stats is still moronic. that class should be taught to chimapanzees with pens so that we dont have to go.

Outside of class, i went to evening with industry and passed out like 8 or 9 resumes to get a summer job. some of them looked somewhat possible like symantec since i am a good programmer and have technical job experience even if it was just service and tech support. My laptop business is doing ok. I went home this weekend again, to great food, and ball with my cousins and brothers. A guy my height dunked on me today, which was crazy, i'm probably at lesat half a foot away or more from even a weak dunk. doh.

another thing is what i've just been thinking about. I was just thinking if by not having something for a while , whether you miss it or whether you just stop missing it. like soda, i dont really miss all that much of caffeine even though i dont really have it anymore. or certain people i never see i dont really miss but others i do. thats really wierd, but well i really havent had that much time to think since i've actualy been going to class, and staying on track in all my classes and doing this laptop stuff and going home all the time to handle the family issues, so i've got far less idle time on my hands.

Me Linda and Mark went to 3rd street and the beach and basically just hung out all night. that was fun . i ate at mongols with mark earlier too. we just talked about like stuff that sucked basically. Also my stupid toughbook wouldnt install winxp for some reason so i just gave up on it. i'mjust gonnakeep my old computer with the new quiet hard drive. the old hard drive was annoyingly loud. oh well, they called the old one cute, but its got no touchscreen. then again the touchscreennovelty wore off after about a day, so oh wells.

Well i went home today for about 4 hours. it was enough time for me to eat birthday cake and eat some food. and i picked up my toughbook. Sadly mine was DOA, but i opened another one, and it works ok. Touchscreen works in winxp also. Sucks is i have to RMA or return the other one, which is a hassle. Whats good, is my auction is up to $1475 already, so i'm gonna be raking in cash it looks like. 2 days left in the auction too. BTW this is the tightest laptop on earth. Outside of the blue or purple (i cant tell) mouse buttons. Tolu saw it and said his brother Temi would die if he saw it. Anyways i took a picture for ebay so i figure i'll put it on my page too so jason can see what his will look like once he gets it. Anyways here goes. Also notice my snake light looking thing sitting next to it. it just stares at me asking making me want to plug it in, even though it would do nothing.

Well i'm 21 now. Being as exciting as i am i did nothing. Thanks to all the people from 2 south that said happy birthday to me. Basically today was same old same old. went to cs111 , class was canceled. went to cs131, melkanoff sucks and said we had to redo our homework so i left. watch broke. damn. then went to stats, almost fell asleep, class is so dumb. then went to lab, and me and my partner decided we had better things to do , not to mention had no idea how to do our labs, so we left yet again. Later i cut my hair, went out to dinner and ate curry. got a birthday present. it was a cool little light for my laptop. plugs into the usb port and is really bright. i dunno if i'm gonna use it just yet, but if i ever get wireless internet access (probably a yes to this), i'll just put it on my laptop and lay in bed. i mean, i dunno exactly how useful it is right now, since i dont have wireless yet, but its a pretty cool thing to add to my stuff that is usb collection. it was nice that someone thought about me when they saw it though and still bought it. That being the real point anyways

Another thing i did was buy a couple more toughbooks, seems like my ebay auction is going pretty well, so i'll make money so i figured might as well make more. not to mention i got another gift card. so i have $125 in gift cards at the end of the month, which will go towards a dvd player for my apartment, and maybe a couple dvds. Anyways, i am the most boring 21 year old on earth, but hey thats me, and i'm just chillin' now. tommorrow i go home get my toughbooks, open mine, install new hard drive, and start playing with it .. not to mention i get a good dinner. cant get better than that.

Well class has been good to me thus far. And i bought a new laptop!. yeah yeah i'm a shopaholic gadget freak. but i'm not alone. Jason bought the same one with me. And matt bought a new toshiba satelite 3005-s304. BUT ours is KICK ASS!!! See i went on anandtech and saw 9 panasonic toughbook 37s for sale for $1200 shipped. These laptops.. are disgusting. We're talking $450-500 off for us. Anyways here is what they have. Pentium III 700, 128mb ram (expandable to 256 for $50) , 20 gig hard drive, 24x cdrom, 56k modem, 12.1 inch TOUCHSCREEN!!!!, and LS-120 120mb floppy drives. Now that sounds like a normal laptop right? WRONG!! it weighs 4.4 pounds with the cdrom installed and battery. (theres is a $400 optional DVD, but uh yeah not gonna get that) Not to mention its got that touchscreen. only bad point is it has 1 pcmcia slot (ok since the cdrom is integrated), and the video is a 4mb silicon magic lynx which is acceptable since i have no games (will suck if i get addicted to warcraft 3 though). Also... the entire laptop, is silver!!! It even looks awesome. And its built for hospital and construction/ police use. so its got a shock mounted hard drive, etc. It'll work great with the wireless at school (i tried it out at esuc with my toshiba). Since this was so expensive, i'm gonna have to sell my toshiba obviously. With its dual batteries, and dual ac adapters. And worse... i think i'm gonna sell my oakley ewires that i've never used. But its the deal of a century, and matt had his away message up and missed out. We probably shoulda bought like 6 of them and sold them on ebay or something. UPDATE. i took my own advice, and i'm buying 4 more. me and jason are confirmed on 2 of them. i will probably get 4 more just to try and make some quick cash. It sounded real risky but then i was thinking. Ackerman job $7/hour, x 10 week x 15 hours / per week - taxes and social security and medicare = $800. I sell 4 laptops and make $200 each = $800. Well the minute our guy responds i'm pulling the trigger. wish me luck, and well i cant afford to go to lawry's still. they just announced pricing on the nissan 350z, so i'm gonna need $26,500.

I havent updated in 10 days aparently so this will be pretty long. Lots of exciting things happening. not. Anyways i saw how high. it was decent and oceans 11 which was better. good movies. I went to lynns party on new years eve, which was far better than what i had planned to do. So i was happy about that. i got an oil change for the nissan and they checked out my wierd starting problem and say i have no problem. Again good. I bought a new microsoft natural elite keyboard and a belkin usb hub ($10 only in a deal at compusa). so thats good. I also bought a 20 gig toshiba laptop hard drive, because its quieter than my ibm one, but now that i think of it, i probably am not gonna notice at my apartment, but i do notice it at home, since its quieter there. anyways, thats was good since i got it cheap, and its fast. Connie bought the same laptop as me, except slower (p3-500 instead of 600) and less hard drive space. she got a great deal on it, especially with the memory pre upgraded and she got the cdrom drive like me. the memory is $80 so i thought for $600 she got a good deal. ANyways enough with things i've bought. I also apparently did a pretty good job giving xmas gifts so i'm pretty happy about that, i didnt wanna get anyone anytning crappy and unoriginal or unthoughtful like a sweatshirt. cough matt cough.

Well today i went to class. It was kinda wierd, i got up at 7 am after sleeping at 3am. so kinda sleepy. went to cs111 which sounds fun righ tnow, but my friend eric says it'll still suck. i then went to melkanoff's cs131 class, and well that looks easy. we are learning java , scheme, and perl in that class in one quarter. so it sounds interesting though it could be a lot of work that idont wanna do. At least i already have the java book. i heard its an easy class at least, but melkanoff is an anal asshole. he got mad at people for using pencils today. Stats 110a was cool, i came in late after oversleeping in the engineering lounge. Lynn is in my class so at least i know someone. she was sleeing and didnt get to hear me make a fool of myself. Also there is no book, which is great since its free. That class will be cake from what i saw on uclaprofessors, not to mention its 20% attendance. what a joke. Then i went to my digital design lab, i know a bunch of people in that, this guy johnson from esuc is in it, gaurav is, and jc. Or at least all of them are trying to be in it. they gave me a spot already since i'm on waitlist. After that i basically vegged in my apartment and took lots of quizes on emode.com. The quiz on your type, and the type you are, and personality are fun. there are a ton of them. it says i'm a romantic type and i want a girl nextdoor, and that for personality it was funny. it said i'm a skydiver, like really spontaneous. and it said i drive like a maniac from my personality which was funny.

Oh yeah one more thing. 2002 is gonna be the year. The year that everything will go good for everyone. thats what i'm saying and i'm gonna believe it until i'm proven wrong. Besides my cousin Janssen said that if i didnt have the time of my life my 3rd and 4th (and in my case probably 5th year) that he'd beat me up. Oh yeah and try "new japan" restuarant on santamonia near texaco past the 405 near the subway restaurant. The curry with chicken cutlet is good, i went there last night with some friends. ANyways, i'm gonna sleep now, its kinda early, and i have no class tomorrow, but i'm kinda tired. Lastly i'm turning 21 in 9 days. if you have anything you'd like to buy i guess, i can buy it for you. Woohoo, such freedom to corrupt minors. Damn i'm old.
