Since I haven't updated in a while this will probably be quite long. Jason slept over on friday at UCLA. We just hung out, didnt do much. Ate at mongolian BBQ with terry. It was real funny, i got so much meat into my bowl that when the guy cooking it tried to take it out it came out in this big bowl shaped block. And then he was all laughing and had to beat it with the stick he had to make it come apart. HAHAHA.

The next day we went back to Torrance and picked up randy on the way. Ate at Ynot, and did the cruising around town thing. Then ate with jason at El Paso (first time i've eaten there). They have good chips. Then we went to see Romeo must Die. I can say that that movie kicked ass and that the asian girls at the beginning were very nice to look at. Also the character Kai had really cool sunglasses. I forgot his name just now, i'm sure it'll pop back in but its the guy on connie's page.

Well Jason went back to santa cruz after that, so now I'm just vegetating in my house. I had the house to myself all monday since my parents went to vegas, so if anyone had wanted to do anything we could have, but i forgot to tell anyone. Ok i'm stupid. So instead today i just sat on my ass. Got up around 1 pm, ate pizza, hotwings, some crap in the fridge. Ate a lot of food actually. Then i felt kind of bad for eating 2 meals at once, and ran a couple miles. Now i'm sitting here writing this. Hmm.. must be bored. Uhh.... someone give me something to do.

Oh yeah, my grades for last quarter came out surprisingly well. I got a B+ in compsci which i guess i deserved, but maybe they'll change it to an A- if we get a good regrade on project 3. I got a B+ in physics because i got a high B+ on the final which was 55%. An by some miracle I got a B- in math. Before the final I had an F. Then I got a high B on the final which was worth 44%. They said that my actualy standing in the class was like a C based on my grades and averages, but i guess i'm getting a B- since i did really well on the final. WOOHOO. I can take PIC 1 again (how to use notepad. A real class. HAHAHAHA).

Oh yeah and lastly computer news. I finally finished putting my computer in the other case. If you read terry's page you'd know i broke yet another motherboard. I had it laying on the floor and the new case ran over the corner and broke a little chip off. So I bought terry's old motherboard the VIA 133 one that supports the 1000 mhz P3. A little overkill for the celeron but it was the onlyboard i could get. Besides I guess that give me an upgrade path, though the spitfire 700 i'll probably just get when its down to $100. Anyways the computer is all good. I also bought a new monitor. My eyes will thank me. By some luck I was able to get the last iiyama 17" visionmaster pro 400 from the iiyama outlet store for $100. 1600x1200@75hz .22 horizontal pitch superflat screen. It is a trinitron tube and is discontinued, but probably a light years ahead improvement over the old tatung 17" which wasn't bad but no where near as good. The newer pro 410 (has shorter tube, for less space) that replaces it costs around $450 to buy, so its a great deal. I dont know what i'll do with my old monitor, I think i'm gonna put it on top of the fridge at school and make it a dedicated TV. I also upgraded my brothers computer, put the 10 gig and voodoo3 i got from that guy in arizona in it. So i'm taking his banshee, his old 1 gig , my extra 1 gig, and my old case and gonna try and sell them on ebay. I also bought a winTV USB thing from office depot for $25 after a price match. Thanks to the hot deals forum on anandtech i got it $55 off. So gonna sell that on ebay where they sell for around $80. Cool pays for my monitor all that junk i'm selling. BTW i updated the about my computer page... I mean the computer part of the about me page.

Ok if Connie says that drinking is stupid well thats her opinion. I dont think she's telling you guys not to drink. If you drink like 40 beers yeah thats your choice, go ahead and do it. I told my brother this so many times. He always says he can choose whatever he wants. Just like you can choose to pass out and smoke weed and do E or whatever. Its your choice, doesn't mean it isn't a stupid choice and yeah most people don't care what you do. They'll just walk by and see your ass passed out on the sidewalk and think you are a moron, but they aren't gonna tell you not to do that because it is your choice. Connie is merely expressing her belief that being like that is stupid. Ok now that I have voiced my opinion on our public forum the internet i'm gonna go back and try to learn this physics. After that i'm gonna go crazy. Damn this keyboard rules.

Well upgraded my keyboard to a Microsoft Intellitype Pro USB. Has USB hub and 18 shortcut keys. Has the layout I like and click feel and wrist rest. I ordered at onvia tried to cancel it came anyways, and it would have cost $5 to ship back so i said screw it. My old keyboard was starting to not be so great, the symbols on some keys were wearing down.

I also wrote my 2 history 5 page essays. THey were really bad. But I should get the required grade that I want , so i dont care. Today I need to study physics so that i can get my B at least. After that I'm all done except the math final which i've got about a 30% change of passing the class in. So no pressure, either i fail and take it again or I can pass and its like a bonus almost. Uh oh. THe spacebar on this keyboard is bigger so the alt key is farther to the left. This will take some getting used to when i push alt-s.

My CS final was today and I think i got like an A probably. We got project 3 back and Gaurav was really pissed because we only got 78, and I was pretty mad too. We worked so hard on that and the graders are just a bunch of crackheads. They said it didnt work right. That is so stupid. Everything works. But if we want to get anything done about it we have to wait till next quarter. It really sucks. Damn the CS department here is really starting to give me doubts. I mean the TAs are all a bunch of non-english speaking morons. I could teach these discussions. And then the graders are total crackheads. Either they didnt read out specifications or they are just randomly assigning grades figuring most would be happy with a 78. At least the professors are good. Well besides melkanoff. I'm really starting to like the idea of retaking my math class. That way I dont have an Cs on my transcript. That would be quite good. I'm almost done doing the reading for my history papers. Damn final suck.

What also sucks is last night my entirely overloaded EX board died. It had been getting flakey but i didnt know it was gonna deteriorate to its dead state. I guess a circa 1998 EX board designed for celeron 266s cant take what i gave it. 256mb ram, voodoo3 2000 and celeron 525. Oh well the BX i got from that guy is in my system now and its all rosy again. Except this time its at 583mhz and the voodoo3 is at 3500 speed, with 288 mb or ram. HAHAHA. OH yeah here is a cool link.

Ok i've finally given up with the desktop case. It was good at home on my other desk so that i could put it on the printer stand. But my desk at school is so fucking small, that i turned the case on its side and stuck it in the corner. I ordered a new one on egghead for $40. Its an antec ks-282 mid tower w/ 200 watt power supply. The power supply sucks but i'll just stick the 250 watt one from my case in it. I dont know what to do with my desktop one. Guess i'll try ebaying it. Here's a picture of it:

Its the one on the left. Gaurav got the one on the right, and i didnt want to copy him. Besides it cost another $7.

Well today I got my logitech soundman X2 speakers that i bought on emusic for $25. They kick ass, 24 watt subwoofer, and 8 watt satelites. The subwoofer is a lotbetter than the 6watt piece of trash that came with the flat panel ones. THe satelites are almost as good but the trade off is worth it. Someone is buying my old ones anyways for $20 (i'm being nice) so it only costs me $5. Guarav got his soyo via motherboard and pentium 3 550e. Me and scott helped/watched him install it. We didnt even bother with any setting besides 853mhz , and it works. Damn that is fast and I almost had a bout of computer jealousy, but figured that my system is plenty fast and that i can buy a spitfire down the line with $300 or so that it would cost. Well then again $300 is 1/3 of a laptop. In other news I got a B- on my history essay. 9 page essay that i wrote in the middle of the night for 2 days. It was total trash, i was quite surprised i got more than a C-. My math midterm wasn't too good. The one that i was late for. Got 49/120. That sucks. I have 53% in the class. I need 85% or so to pass on the final. I'm pretty much giving up hope and already scheduled for taking the class again next quarter. The scheduling site let me schedule for 32a and b at the same time for some reason so I have a spot in both classes in case i pass. I have to write 2 more 4 page papers for history, but since i got a B- on the 8 page one I only need a D- on these to pass that. And since its pass fail i dont care. I have to read this book tht is 350 pages on the cultural revolution and at least its not as bad. I'm around 100 pages through it after starting today. Not bad i guess.

Today I (i'm talking about the 15th) I was totally wierd. The last 5 days i got a combined 11 hour sleep. So today I slept at 5:30 am and woke up at 11am fell back asleep and woke up at 6:30pm. Was really wierd to wake up to dark sky. On monday juney sleptover and on monday me and lynn and he went to fatburger. I got this monster of a two patty, baconed out, monster burger. Too bad bacon grease spilled out onto my sweatshirt. Then we saw 9th gate which was a freaky sort of insane movie. It was cool though. All about satan worshippers and stuff i recommend you see it.

The computer talk starts here. Stop reading if you want. The other day my computer from that guy came and it was even better than expected. Damn i'm lucky. It was a p2-233, Tekram BX motherboard, 128mb CAS 2 pc100 dimm, 32mb CAS 3 pc100 dimm, 10 gig maxtor VL20 hard drive (10 gigs per platter quite nice), a 4 gig fujitsu hard drive, a toshiba 8x dvd rom (best dvd on the market), SB AWE64, a 56k creative labs modem, an enlight atx case, voodoo3 2000 and a ls-120 drive and floppy. He even gave me the win98 upgrade CD and all the manuals. This stuff will be sold for an estimated $630 on ebay, since i'm keeping the ram. I traded it to connie for her micron cas3 pc100 since i'm anal like that and wanted both dimms to be the same. Whats cool too is that the voodoo3 2000 was really a 3000. It has the tv out chip and 6ns ram, but the heatsink and bios are for the 2000. This means it overclocks to 3000 perfectly. I got it to work at 3500 speed (it could probably go higher, but the overclock tool i used only goes up to 183mhz) with a fan and oddly one dimm only. If i put in 256mb it only goes to around 173mhz. Probably my cheap EX mobo, but it doesnt make a difference in speed since the cpu isnt fast enough to push the video card. Well i put that one in my system and took out my crappier voodoo3 2000 which terry said he's buy. Cool. My system is hella fast, and i'm making a killing on this system. I thank you Mr. James winningham of Arizona for basically giving me $350 and 128mb of ram. Thank you. Also terry's intellimouse finally came. I traded him my circuit city gift cards, the awe64 and modem from the computer, and $10 for it. Its cool. Has 5 buttons a wheel and the bottom glows. There is no wheel and it is so good for unreal and sniping on the run. You can twitch it around two fast or it stops tracking but i dont play like that so its great. Me and scott were talking about it and we were saying that we'd never pay more than $40 for this, but my case i was bartering so i guess thats different than cash.

Woohoo, all bugs and error checking and documentation done. Total pages of paper. 67!. Project 3 is good to go. I any of you future CS majors wanna see what you do in a "weeder" class, click this link (I will post the project up after it is turned in and the due date passes). I'm so happy. Now i just gotta do physics and then basically i have the rest of the week off to do nothing. YAY!.

Well I finished Project 3. It was a 20+ hour marathon. It was this huge database of students and their buying habits / class / GPA / college etc. And you could query up info and get certain students who matched it. I think its prepping us CS students for writing databases for oracle or something. Oh well i'm proud of it. I wish being good at computers equated with being good at math like everyone thinks.... then maybe I wouldn't be getting a D in math. I also think i messed up win2000 a little. IE crashes every day or so and well it used to not. (CuteFTP uses the Aureate thing for their ad based trials version, but the aureate stuff doesnt uninstall when you uninstall it) I was trying to delete all the aureate advertising Dlls because Alan Kwan told me that the Aureate servers take personal info and link you to their servers making IE crash. Ironically i tried to kill it and now it crashes IE. So looks like windows will be installed again next week. Already have everything backed up to my 27 gig. To top it off Mcafee verified that the whole Aureate thing was a hoax. Oh well it only takes me like 2 hours to reinstall anyways since NT2000 has the drivers for everything built in. If you guys have noticed look at the times my posts are. Those are all before going to bed so you can get an idea of how late i'm up.

Well I failed my math midterm again. I'm figuring 50%. I overslept, ran there couldn't find the building and lost half the time. So i had half an hour to do the 1 hour test. Not like it mattered. It was one of those things where if you knew it real well you'd have gotten it in 20 minutes anyways. I tried my best. Oh well. I even studied the stupid practice midterm and DID learn a lot but still not enough to get a decent grade. At least that's over with. Now all my midterms and crap are done so I've got a week till finals. THe CS project 3 is really really long me and Gaurav are like 70% done with the code and its like 15 pages already. Terry is trading me his new Intellimouse Explorer. Wooho. Well I 've been real busy catching up in classes and doing work. 2nd Quarter is so much more hectic than 1st. Probably since my CS class is 50% harder (I'd say about) , the math is like 2x as hard, and I've got stupid history to read for. I finally moved my alarm clock to my desk. I was subconciously turning it off and going back to sleep, thats why i didnt get up for my math midterm. I estimated that if i had had the whole hour i might have gotten a 65%. Wow. Sad huh. Oh well I need a 65% or so on the final to get a C- and pass the class. If i fail i can re take it and the grade covers up the old one so I guess it isn't that bad, just a wasted quarter. I almost dropped this class anyways so at least i can say i tried.

In computer news, I bought a p2-233, LX motherboard, atx case, ls-120 drive, 3-4 gig hard drive, sound card, voodoo3 2000, 6x toshiba dvd , and 128mb ram for only $265 through some guy on ebay. Parts of it are in the terry deal and basically I end up getting the Intellimouse for free plus $100 around. Cool huh?

Today I'm going back to Torrance for my grandma's buddist ceremony and my dermatologist appointment on monday morning. I got everything i need packed up, like 2 books and my rio. I need to read the chinese history book so that i can find more examples to write about in my damn paper. Gotta do all of that quick. I just found out that my history paper is due on tuesday not thursday. I still have like 3 problems of physics to do Boy am i fucked. I guess i'll have to churn out some quick essay on Sunday. HAHA. Oh well, i guess i'm not sleeping on monday.

In computer news my year 2000 1st half of the year computer upgrade is complete. I put in the voodoo3 2000 and it overclocks to 166mhz so its like a 3000 now. The crummy samsung memory wont go past 168mhz or so or else i just get tearing, if i had been real lucky i could have got hyundai and gone up to 180mhz. I even put a fan on it but it made no difference so i took it off. Oh well doesnt make a difference my processor isnt that fast. I probably wont upgrade anything inside the "box" until around xmas at least maybe i'll get a 900mhz spitfire or something. Maybe. Right now i have enough ram, hard drive, 3d card, can processor power. My cdroms are fine. My monitor still isnt an LCD though so someone buy me one. Anyways I was happy about the voodoo3 2000 upgrade cost. The viper v330 and vooodoo2 that is replaces sold for a combined $67 for a grand total of $2 i paid to upgrade. I also sold the ati rage 2 piece of junk PCI card for $40 which is good (i got the guy to paypal referal so i got even more than the ebay price). I also bought a quantum 30 gig UDMA hard drive and cable for $172 net on ebay. It works fine. Nobody wanted to buy it off me so I think i'll screw over david lam or resell it on ebay in the $200 range. Thats what happens when you are up at 5 am and the auctions are cheap. Cool. Anyways enough of that. I'm gonna leave for torrance soon.

OK , i realized how shitty next quarter will be for me. Tolu gets to take Ethnical musicology for a breather. For me i get CS33, Math 32b and 33a. That is my breather. Oh well at least its not 4 classes and at least its all after noon. Also i'd like to say that James Sharpe is the man of the moment. Ok i'm really gonna start math now. The i'm doing my laundry excuse is over since it finished. Damn.
