I had an idea. I want to know what happens when you take two (or more) email accounts and make
them forward to each other. Does it go forever and crash the server. So I could try a yahoo and
an iname or hotmail and send like a 1 meg attached file. Lets see how much bandwidth I can waste.
You can even do it in a circle like iname forwards to yahoo which forwards to hotmail that forwards
to lycos that forwards to iname. It's be cool.

Well I bought the stupid tnt2 and it turned out to be a model 64 , 64 bit bus version. Well the box
said 128bit bus so it was misleading. Me, Terry, Matt and Jason all returned it. Me and Jason then
ordered two creative labs 16mb tnt2s. I also worked at Developmentor for 5 hours this weekend. I love
working there, we do simple stuff and drink soda for $10 and hour. Cool.

Well after waiting 2 and a half hours, searching for an unexpired insurance form, I failed my driving test.
My dad said I should have picked a friday and this late in the afternoon because the people would want
to go home and would be all pissed. So anyways after waiting in the 90 degree heat outside for 2 hours
I turned right on a red light. Sure I stopped and looked , and there were no cars and everthing. So I
turned and then a block later I did the same thing. So he failed me because he said I ran two red lights.
But it didn't matter because even before that he said I failed because I stopped too close to a parked car that was
jutting out into the street when another car was coming on the other lane. I was like 15 feet away from the
car but he said I should have stopped earlier.
And then I bring up the next thing. Why is everyone at the DMV black or of some sort of minority , like
they are disabled or something. The people are damn morons. Like the lady that I showed the expired
insurance to. I came back like 5 minutes later and the lady had no idea what I was talking about
when I came back. And to top it off it was some black lady with bright blond hair. Then the driving
test guy like he's so retarded that he's reading like everything off a sheet line by line. And he tells
me "I'm not gonna trick your or anything", but he fails me for going right on red two times. I mean
I looked it up in the DMV manual later and it says it's perfectly legal as long as you stop and its safe.
Dammit. How can I not be bitter? My dad was even telling me that if the DMV was a private company it'd
be out of business because it has horrible service and isn't open on weekends. The people that work there
are just the crap left over that couldn't get a job anywhere else. I mean they could never
survive at a job at a real company because they are either slow, stupid and usually both. Plus my dad pointed
out that we pay a ton of cash for registration and taxes and there is probably some tax on insurance so
why is the service so bad. They should be able to keep up with demand if we pay so much for this civil
service shit. I mean all these people that are working these shitty civil service jobs and aren't qualified
or are too stupid. You know what I think we should do. We should just round them all up and put them in nevada
and kill them all.

Well I didn't blow up that motherboard. After taking the battery out and letting it sit for an hour it was
fine again. Damn wierd motherboard. All I tried to do was install a modem. Well I'm gonna work
at Developmentor again. It'll probably only be like 7 hours again, but $70 does buy a lot of food. Also
I've no made an investment of 260 shares of 3dfx stock after it bombed $3 or nearly 20% yesterday. It
is currently 11 3/8 which is down from the 11 1/2 i bought it at but I'm sure it'll go up . It's a good
company and AMD and INTEL are behind its non-geometry accelerated Voodoo4. (For those who don't understand,
if it doesn't have a hardware geometry processor then you'll need a more powerful CPU)
Lastly my dad told me a bunch of stories about the good old days in computers. He got in back in the
early 80s so he had to learn crap like Novell netware 2.0 and xenix. They used to have all these different
types of network topologies, like something called star-something. Anyways he was telling me about this
dumbass AS/400 guy that IBM sent to Tatung. The guy makes like $95 an hour including driving. So he
goes to the as/400 server and is like "how do you turn this on?" And my dad is telling me that it's like
so stupid that you have such specialized knowledge that you don't really know shit. Then he told me about some my
mom's cousin who used to be a printer in the Philippines. Now the guy works at Unisys and they are paying
to get his MCSE. Just shows that anyone can be one. Then he talked about these morons from Intel. They go
"well you have to test the CPUs very well because some of them you send back are fine." So they say you
have to setup a motherboard and hard drive and cdrom and all this stuff to test it. So my dad is like "why
can't you just turn it on and see if it POSTS?" So anyways the guy goes "well we need a p2/3 chip to test , do you
have one?" So they turn to him and are like " no we only do celerons because we build low end computers". So my
dad is like telling me that this guy is an idiot because he flew down from Santa Clara to tell them all this crap
and the said they were sending back good p3s but they don't even make p3s.
So what I gather from all of this is that companies are so starved for IT people that they'll take any bum off
the street, pay for his training, and then no matter how little experience they have give them a raise and a
good job. I really don't think this is gonna last. I mean when you take a guy who used to do Printing
like my mom's cousin, or some idiot who can't turn on a computer, well these people weren't meant for these
jobs and are in it for just the money.

Well I tried to update my page today and Notepad said it didn't have enough memory. So i had
to archive it. Also I was right about my stock and made $190 today after selling Athome. The Hans
mutual fund is now up 20% for this month. I think tommorrow being the fed rate hike will be a good
day to buy because things will most likely be lower. So that just means more money to be made on Wednesday.
Terry I get a rock solid rating too. Lastly Brian might have a net party and I think it would be good
to go if everyone else did, especially with the warezed homeworld and C&C 2 to play.

I am finally taking my driving test on Friday. Also I got a new fan/heatsink so that my computer won't be
so noisy. Then I scratched the plastic on my monitor when my monitor rolled over the old heatsink. Gonna make
money in stocks this week. I can feel it.

I came back from UCLA yesterday. Made some friends. It was fun. Engineers rule. Letters and science
sucks!!!!!!! Ok well I'm too lazy to write anything. Jason is right its better to go by yourself than
with people you already know.

8-13-99
Well I got my case yesterday. I sent out the other one today. The new case kicks ass. Saves space.
I never understood why people want towers. They just waste space. I mean you can stack desktops, put
a printer or monitor on top of them, etc. You can even put sodas on them. ALso I got a new printer
today. I was gonna get a xerox xj6c for $59 at office depot. It's 6ppm, dual cartridge, 600x600dpi.
But they had the xerox xj8c for $10 more only and it's 8ppm , dual cartridge, and 1200x1200dpi. $10
well spent i think. Anyways I am now a shareholder of Excite@Home corp. Bought in at 37 3/8. There
is news that the FCC says that it's not good to open up the cable access market for free access. So
my shares should go up like $4 on monday. This rules. By the end of the week next week athome might
be $50 a share. AOL might also buy them. Cool.
Lastly I recommended Ivan to get a celeron 466 ($120 boxed retail at ic-direct), and lm6 motherboard
($55 at pcprogress) and a case ($60 for asus) and tnt2 creative labs ($95 at pcprogress). This is a
very fast combo for about $300. I recommend this system for anyone buying a computer now because
it's price/performance ratio is great and will last at least a year considering all we'll be playing
is q3a / unreal engine games / homeworld. And all those games run fine on a p2-350 right now.
Oh yeah I'm going to UCLA orientation finally on Sunday. Don't expect any updates. I wish I had a laptop so
I could track my stocks. Damn.

8-11-99
Those bastards at IC-direct still haven't said anything about my case. The market was very good
today. It'll probably die tommorrow. AOL was up 6 at one point. Damn I didn't get into that,
it'll probably be down tommorrow. I sold my AMD. Right now I'm up $320 so the Hans mutual fund is now
up 13% in 13 days of trading.
|
8-9-99
I got my new computer case today and the thing was broken. there was a big ass crack on it. Those bastards
at UPS probably broke it . Just like Jason's monitor. And I've got to pay to ship this shit back. God damn it.
On the bright side my stock went up 1 13/16 today on the athlon announcement so that is like $280 for me.
|
8-5-99
I got my new 17.2 GB hard drive today. It's damn fast. Also it allows me to run my computer at 112x4
with UDMA enabled. Double plus. It's strange that it is so fast because the platter density is the same
as the old one. All it has is more cache. But on IC-directs page it is supposed to have a faster intra
drive transfer rate. Also my mindspring is down 75 cents today. I'm down $200 already. but there are
rumors of a microsoft takeover so people are buying now. It was as low as 23 today , which would have
been a $450 loss for me , but luckily it recovered. If microsoft buys it it'll probably rise to 32+ and well
I'll be making bank off that. Hell yeah.
|
8-4-99
Well my hard drive and terry's hard drives arrived. UDMA 66 Seagate 17.2 GB. Also his
celeron 550 is perfect. Works at 2.1 volts. Bastard!!!
Today I bought 85 shares of Mindspring for 28 1/4. They are down to 26 3/4. Too much damn
panic selling. Everything is going down. Mindspring is a solid company and should rebound. It
was $65 a share at one point this year but being internet related it has died along with all other
net stocks. Damn I lost $140 today. Hopefully it'll come back tommorrow. It probably will since the
Nasdaq is already 11% off it's highs meaning that this is already a full correction. Damn
EBAY is only $75 now off it's highs of $250 or so. Some people must be suicidal right now. What I dont
get is how companies like Intel and Microsoft can not be hurt by the panic selling. I'm sure everyone
is just buying these two with the money from the selling. Intel and Microsoft haven't had any good
news lately. Intel is facing more competition and lower profit margins and Microsoft is now
rumored to be broken up and being sued by the NFL cheeleaders.
I guess I'm gonna go to Matt's today. I've got to bring him the va-503+ so that he'll have a decent
system to use when he is home on weekends during college. I need the money anyway. Also my developmentor
check came in yesterday. Combined with the other one coming later it should cover my losses in mindspring.

8-3-99
Well today I went to Barry's house and Best Buy with Terry. We installed a TV card for Barry.
Earlier I had sold my 150 shares of AMD at 16 9/16. That is barely a profit and the profit was cancled out by
the commissions anyways. So I picked up AOL at 88 3/8. It went down to 86 1/2 and I was panicking
then I went with Terry. Later there was a rally for the internet stocks and I was able to sell
at $90 1/2 making about $55. Of course I lost $16 comission buying and selling. So now
I own no stock because the market is looking bearish. I've made a total of $25 and I guess it's
not that bad considering the markets have been on a downtrend during my week of trading. I've made 1%.
Still not bad compared to the 1.3% I was getting on the savings account. I should have sold AMD last week
at 17 1/2 but I was an idiot and it went down. Hopefully the employment report on Friday will be bad
news so I can buy when things are low and make some money next week with AMD on the Athlon launch.
