The Triumph of the Nerd
Long, long ago the nerd was revered. They were the Merlins, the Alexander Graham Bells,
and the wheel makers of the stone age. The nerd worked on things no one else understood,
just like today. But it has become a thankless job. People depend on their computers,
phones, electricity, etc. But they do not take the time to simply stop and pay their respects to the great nerd. Of course, when something is broken the nerd is blamed. He is further told he is a loser, homo, etc. The masses doesn't understand that they are the idiots and that they broke it.
The nerd shares the experiences of all the others of his kind. They reminisce of the
exclusion from the masses in their youth. They all know the feeling of being thought different from the socialites. They remember the stereotyping of them as dwelling in darkly lit rooms with their friend the computer. These experiences bind the nerds together
as one and it is why they will triumph in the end.
Nerds are naturally smarter than the masses. They have always been smarter and many of the mass even recognizes it. They fear them. That is why they want to oppress the nerd into subservience. The nerd will redesign their car so that it drives itself, but he will never have the power. The masses think that they can control the nerd so that he will never command. So that he will never rule them. And for the last 50 years it has worked. The nerd has lost so much self-esteem by the end of high school that he will not fight. The nerd is fooled into serving the masses. Fooled into thinking he will be happy without the power. Without the fame.
But, unknown to the masses is that a nerd revolution has been going on. The nerd has been positioning himself to begin his rule. I ask you. Who runs the internet that the world depends on? The power grids, the telecommunications networks, the banking databases, the infrastructure of this world? The masses will unanimously say that they do. But who designed those vital systems? The nerd did. Who is the one who knows how they work. The nerd. The nerd, being smartest, has made the masses dependant on him. If the electricity and networks and infrastructure ceased to function the world would be in chaos.
The nerd will then become strong. Together they will fight as one. It will not be a physical fight, but one of mental acuity. The masses will try to fight, but their weapons will be useless. They will be no match to the superior intellect of the nerd. The nerd will stop their missles guidance systems, communications networks, etc with all the backdoors they had programmed into them. Then the masses will not know how to fight. Or live. Further the years of being made fun of and exclusion from the masses have made the nerd emotionally strong. He does not flinch at sadness. The hate inside of him will be unleashed. The masses will be brought to their knees to beg for mercy from the mighty nerd. And then the nerd will have triumphed.
Then the nerd will be the one making fun of the masses. The nerd will exclude the masses from their fun and games while the masses do menial labor. The menial labor the nerd tells them to do. Because the nerd will control them. And then the nerd will laugh because all will be right with the world once more.
The nerd only needs a little more time to position his pieces. And then he will need to just push the button on his computer, the computer that people said was his only friend. Little did the masses know that he was friends with all the other nerds. And together, they pushed the button on the keyboard that started the revolution. The televised revolution.
