small multicolor ballAutographs of Sports Figures

I only collect autographs which I personally have obtained at a live signing or have aquired through mail in offers by reputable companies. This way I avoid forgery scams which are rampant in the industry. Many sports stars signatures (at shows and the like) go for up to $150 per signature. I think it's ridiculous to pay someone so much money simply to sign their own name, so as a rule of thumb, I will not pay more than $5 ... though I've only paid for one signature in all the years I've been collecting - all the rest were free...

Some of the signatures I have and where I got 'em:

SF 49ers:
* Jerry Rice (Fry's grand opening Campbell, CA)
* Ronnie Lott (Classic Car Wash, San Jose, CA)
* Keena Turner (Nob Hill Foods grand opening, SJ)
* Dana Stubblefield (Buzzy's BBQ grand opening, SJ)
* Elvis Grbac (grand opening of some now defunct sports card shop, SJ - his is the one I paid for...why?!)

NY Mets:
* Bobby Jones (Candlestick Park [aka 3Com Park] San Francisco, CA)
* Doug Henry
* Blas Minor

Misc Baseball (mail in offers):
* Don Drysdale (Nabisco)
* Ernie Banks (Nabisco)
* Catfish Hunter (Jimmy Dean)

San Jose Sharks:
* Jeff Odgers (Nob Hill Foods, Mountain View, CA)
* Jason More

I attempted to go gambling there but was turned away because they did not approve of my "casual dress" {like their brochure stated} - I was wearing jeans - I suppose Canada and The US disagree on what constitutes casual...
