Welcome to the Döner Kebap shop
This site is dedicated to the art of making and eating Döners. The Döner kebap is of Turkish/Oriental origin and is very similar to the Arabic Shawarma. The modern Döner kebap is a Turkish-German experience that took seed in the 60's-70's in the humble Turkish neighborhoods of Berlin. In the last 20 years, it has become very popular throughout Europe as well as other parts of the world.. The Döner kebap as we know it today is dissimilar from the traditional Döner of Turkey. The modern Döner has many similarities with the traditional Döner, except that it's served as a sandwich with pita bread instead of a platter.
This picture is of a Döner kebap shop in Findakzada that I took in April 2001. This by far was the best modern Döner I've ever had. One of my dreams is to move to Montevideo in my later years and start my own Döner shop.
