The Popups Window or Editor is made up of four sections:

Server Window

Serverpop.irc goes here.

Channel Names List

Popup.irc goes here.

This has a 32k size limit. But you can create more than one to store your popups in and switch them when you get tired of using the same ones. Just name the new one something different, like pops.irc, that way you can tell which ones you are loading.

Channel Main Pane

Chanpop.irc goes here.

Private Msg/DCC Chat

Msgpop.irc goes here.

The part that you will use the most is the Channel Names List. This is where you put all of the greeting, hugs, etc. that you collect. (To learn about cut and paste please visit the Aliases page)

Using Popups

It's easier than you think!

• Left click on the nick of the person you want to appear in the popup.
• Right click in the channel names list.
• From the menu left click on the popup you want to use.

One of the questions we hear frequently in #pirch is "Why can't I see all of my popups when I right click?". This is because you have saved so many that the list is too long to show on the screen. To fix it you need to nest your popups.

Putting them in groups.

If you are doing this on line type /run notepad; if you are doing this off line open notepad, find the popups you want to nest in your pirch directory and open them.The idea is to put them in groups as you see here.

• Place the cursor at the beginning of the document.
• Hit Enter to create a line for the group name.
• Type in a Group name, like Hugs or Greets whatever you want to appear on the popups menu.
• Next type in the name of the sub-menu, remember to place a . (period) in front of it.
• Place 2 .. (periods) in front of each popup that will be in that category.
• If your popups are all mixed together cut and paste to move them to their new categories.
• If you want a line to separate them on the popup menu place a - (hyphen) between the groups.
• When you are done nesting , click file choose save as and give the popups a new name (they will be easier to find when you load them). Make sure you save them to your Pirch directory.

Now that you have them nested you need to Load them into your popups menu. You must be on line to load them.

• Click on the popups button up top.
• Click on the Channel Names Tab.
• Click on Load a window will open up like the one you see here.
• Find the file you previously saved.
• Click on it.
• Click Open.
• Click Save.

When you right click in the names list of the channel you are in your popup menu will look something like this. Notice how each of the sub-menus are listed here with an arrow, a drop down menu will appear when you move the mouse over each section showing the popups that are stored in that section.

To paste a new popup into a group you have already created.

Copy as usual.

• Click on the popups button up top.
• Click on Channel Names List.
• Scroll down until you find the group you want to add it to.
• Left click in the window to place the cursor after the group name.
• Hit Enter to create a new line for the popup.
• Add the 2 .. (periods).
• Right click, choose paste.
• Remember to click Save.
