General Comments

Chris,

Enjoyed your Mumps pages. Found them to be very useful. I'm a Delphi programmer that needs access to MUMPS data and you've put me on the right track, I'm sure.

As far as site comments, I liked the section on the history of MUMPS for layout and style. I'm a no frills kinda guy and think that this section looked clean and uncluttered.

Just an opinion - you asked.

GZ, erols.com

Great page even though I don't know what "M" is!!

OT, geocities.com

This is the most beautifully designed site I've seen. I hope to contribute content to it.

JM, cpcug.org

MWM: We welcome your contributions.

Chris,

Don't want to take too much of your time, but you merit a "Great Job".

Dear Sir,

I would like more information about the products and services offered by your company.

AJ, waternet.com

MWM: We don't directly offer any product or service, (expect for MWM which is free :-).

Dear Editor

I am a student taking computer science. I found your discussion on flowcharts extremely useful for my studies. Could MWM run a flowchart course?

Thanks.

Tim@45ears.com

Hi,

My name is Bernard and I would like to suggest more flowchart articles. They are really good because they are accompanied by a program one can run.

MWM needs volunteer cartoonists for a number of future projects. If you would like to join our team, send us a sample of your work. Very soon MWM will be introducing a number of new sections. Would you like to tell us your M success story. No writing experience necessary.

Send us an e-mail (mwm@mcenter.com) now.

Questions

Chris:

Questions:

1) On a Motorola system I need to assign a device of Tape Drive - Travan Format to the parallel port. I can then sent output to a portable Ditto tape drive for data transfer and backup purposes.

2) How can I assign an FTP program to the Motorola from a PC using Webterm? Webterm is a product that allows browsing from the PC to the Host (somewhat like the Internet) using TCP/IP. Once setup the user can download files onto the PC from the host.

I need to find a compatible emulation for the Motorola and assign an ISP or DNS# to get this to work. (Using Netscape on PC)

Chris,

I am the Director of IS for a large Clinic in NE PA. We are looking for tools to allow our PC users/developers to access Mumps data (IDX system) using Access or Excel. Is there any product comparison between the ODBC drivers that are available for Mumps. Intersystems vs Micronetics vs ???.

Thank You

David L. Schultz, dschultz@epix.net or dschultz@clarityconnect.com

Dear Chris,

I have a program that is written in DTM PC Mumps 4.2 which dates from DOS 3.x days. I'm getting a DTM crash when trying to run this program in a Win 95 DOS box. The error I'm getting is <WRITE FAILURE ON DATASET>

I am very new to the world of coding so any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ed Oz, Edward_Olszewski@idx.com

I've been looking through your online magazine. Can you answer some questions for me?

Are there any communication or terminal emulation products available that :

Thanks for your help.

Kim Decker, kdecker@unidata.com

I am currently employed by a corporation that uses M(umps) nationwide. And I was informed that I "would" learn M, I currently have an M-Tutor program that I can run from DOS on my home P.C. Do you know where I can obtain other computer based M training programs for download that will run either in MSDOS or Win95.

I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks

I have a healthcare application running on a very old data general machine. I need to convert it to DOS or WinNT. Can you help or give me a reference?

Suggestions

Dear Chris,

When I went to the download page, I could hardly see their name.

That YELLOW is too bright, I think. May I suggest another color for their name would be much easier to read and an even better service to the non M community.

Chris,

Thanks for coming up with this concept. With the explosion of the Internet, this is a wonderful way to reach out to the M community.

Is there a way of changing the color scheme? I could barely/hardly read the interview with Ed/Kate. He has been quite helpful in explaining some M concepts by e-mail, BTW.

Thanks.

The enjoyment of reading MWM is spoilt by the need to accept/reject a different cookie for every page.

While I recognize the usefulness of recognizing return users and the need for sponsor support this seems a little overboard.

Thanks for listening to my gripe - everything else looks fine.

Dear Sir,

The automatic bookmark feature of MWM is really cool. It should become a standard feature in every Internet publication as it makes following such publications a lot easier.

Thanks

There has been a lot of talk about cookies. One report said that one can steal unauthorized information from people who visit your page. Is this correct?

Chris,

Don't give in to the rubbish about cookies. Many people enjoy being part of the reenactment of War of the Worlds. Those readers who don't like cookies, should get themselves a cookie stopper.

Other Comments/Suggestions

Hi,

Here is another e-mail suggesting that the TYTM page of MWM become more frequent. The time frame between one issue and another is simply too long.

Could you also consider splitting up this page into parts. It takes really long to load.

Thanks

PS, underwriter.com

MWM: As from this issue we will be splitting up long articles into parts.

Your magazine rates as one of the most informative programming publications I've come across. Could you consider extending it to cover other programming languages besides M? After all you already run the MFreeZone section which isn't M-related?

MWM: We don't have any plans to divert into other programming languages.

I don't know whether you've noticed, but the version of MSM/Student expires this year. Will a new version become available.

MWM: We are presently evaluating this issue.

Would you like to put your work on the net? MWM gives you this opportunity without having to leave the comfort of the tool you currently use.

Send us an e-mail for more information.

We've had a corruption in the file that held the feedback comments. This corruption also got copied unnoticed in our backups. We have reconstructed all the messages that could be read. Some e-mails might have got lost together with some parts of the messages shown here.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

MWM would like to clarify that only e-mails which are M or MWM related will be considered for publication here. We are having to go through numerous off-topic e-mails which is very time consuming.

Pass on our Web Address!
