Poetry, though little known, can be
what we know by book through pages.
We study, toil, and travel though the ages,
while poetry renders condensed, pure sages.

Weaving, twisting, thinking plots we'll find,
while expanding and deepening, volumes unwind.
Chapters unfold, spring forth tales, and delight,
while poetry, reduced to core, remains in easy sight.

Books will clothe and suit your frame and body.
They even give texture and color - some gaudy.
Stories have been told applauding the ages forever,
while poetry goes on simple and free this endeavor.

It rarely preaches or expands, yet phonetically,
poetry can splendidly robe the richest king or queen.
It can give meaning and purpose, things all first unseen.
While poetry can and does much more, with less, all poetically.

Poetry need not have scholars or lectured brain.
These, while some help, will also quite hinder.
Poetry comes not of head, but rather hearts surrender,
and souls that open and free, give prose profane.

Worlds open and days quickly brighten; lands unfold...
to green grass, blue skies, and rolling open prairie.
...and yes, books will always be with poetry.
They will live and happily remain. They may even marry,
where vast oceans bring tall ships and elegant steamers,
......................with stories and poetry yet untold.
