Medical Records and Privacy Issues The annual supper meeting of NEMUG was held on September 17th 1997. Attorney David Wolowitz of the firm McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton was guest speaker for this event and the topic he presented was titled "Medical Records, Privacy Issues, and the Law" or "How to protect yourself as a Consultant or Programmer". Mr. Wolowitz has spoken on the subject of Medical Records privacy, and related legal issues at conferences held at the C. Everett Koop Institute, Matthew Thornton Health Plan, and other area hospitals and medical software firms. In a scintillating discussion, Mr. Wolowitz enlighten the attendees on the current proposed legislation concerning Electronic Medical Records. He also talked about the boards and commissions working on various aspects of medical information control, and recent legal cases involving these topics.
