MUMPS
of Georgia User's Group
September 9th MGA Meeting
Dan Baer, past MGA board member, ran a
presentation on developing Windows shareware using M with 3rd party IDEs. In this meeting,
he explained how he used used Visual Basic (VB) and MSM-Workstation (MSM-WS) to produce a
shareware product that uses M.
This presentation covered using VB and MSM-WS,
using M as an automation server under VB, some webserver CGI info, and creating a Windows
setup program.
October 14th MGA Meeting
MGA's own Ed McIntosh make a presentation on
Microsoft's new technology for Universal Data Access. Ed was fresh from the Microsoft
Developers Conference and could therefore explain how technologies like ADO can
benefit M programmers.
The premise of Universal Data Access (part of the new DNA plan from Microsoft) is that not
all data comes from relational databases. So Ed demonstrated to those attending how M
databases can be players along side relational databases in this new approach from
Microsoft. Ed also told the group about details of certain M vendor plans with respect to
UDA.
November 11th, 1997 Meeting
In this very interesting meeting, those attending
discussed the beginnings of an ongoing project that will involve M and the web. The group
defined the project in this meeting and looked at the tools the group could use to explore
it. Joan Weil downloaded the MSM WS 2.0 beta and was using it during the meeting.
