M Archive
Chris Bonnicis M Info Source has three new M papers
to his web page at http://geocities.datacellar.net/SiliconValley/7041/ref.html.
The papers are:
- System Performance: A Benchmark Study on MUMPS and Other
Systems;
- Software Engineering, Programmer Productivity and System
Performance;
- A System for Clinical Data Management.
There are some people who would like to forget about this
languages past and if possible present it as a completely new language called M. At
MWM we tend to be of a different opinion as we feel that Ms past is an integral part
of M. M users should be proud to use a language that has withstood the test of time.
Besides, anything's present and future success is effected very little by its past; what
really counts is whether it can compete in today's markets (we feel that currently M is
evolving at a healthy rate). Over the years that M has been around with many a languages
and tools that have come to be and no longer be. M is not one of them.
Chris Bonnici would like to extend this archive even more.
Anyone who posses papers on M should get in touch with Chris Bonnici on chribonn@softhome.net so that reprint permission can be sought to
put these papers online. With a sufficiently large collection, researchers, students and
general surfers could get a clear idea of how the computing environment changed over the
years and how M progressed to its present state.
